Grace The only way a person is forgiven for sin, is through a blood sacrifice. That was well stated in the Old Testament book of Leviticus. YHWH directed Moses to setup the sacrificial laws in the book of Leviticus to explain the way to be forgiven. When Christ died on the cross, He fulfilled this blood sacrifice for our forgiveness. No other blood sacrifice is needed for forgiveness. What the early apostles were trying to do was have the Christians believe in Christ and follow the Law of Moses, but Paul corrected them, by explaining that Christ fulfilled that law with His sacrifice on the cross. That is the grace we have, that we no longer have to follow the Levitical laws of forgiveness. Jude writes that people will come in and pervert this meaning of grace, and say that it is ok to sin. (Jude 1:4) A whole doctrine is being taught, saying we are under grace, not under the law so they can live in their sins. Saying once saved always saved, because His grace has cleaned everything. This is not the case in scripture.
Our grace is not being under the Lavitical law for forgiveness, it is not a license to sin.
Paul writes in Romans 6:1 What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? He said God forbid. Once He died on the cross He fulfilled the Leviticus law of sacrifice.
Paul also writes in Romans 6:14 For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace. Again, this is the (nomos) Levitical law. We are under grace, because we are not required to go through all of the steps of forgiveness covered under that law.
Here in Romans 11:6 And if by grace, then is it no more of works: otherwise grace is no more grace. But if it be of works, then is it no more grace: otherwise work is no more work. The works (ergon) here are another reference in having to follow Levitical law for forgiveness.
We are still required to follow the commandments. Mat 5:19, Mat 22:37-39 John 14:15
In Gal 2:21 He is stating that if we had to keep following Levitical requirements to be forgiven, then Christ would have died in vain.Being circumcised in Gal 5:2 profits nothing, because the Christ fulfilled that law also
Gal 5:3Says if a person gets circumcised to fulfill the law, then he is required to live by all of the parts of the law. The law of being circumcised is part of this same Levitical law.
Gal 5:4 states that those that tried to be justified by the Levitical law had fallen from the grace of God, They are saying to God, that their salvation comes from following this law, and not by the gift that Christ gives us, His death on the cross.
So can we fall out of grace with the Lord, according to Heb 12:15-17.
Grace is being able to repent for our sins, knowing that the Lord has forgiven us. But the key word is repent. |
