Some Christians seem to be really straight laced, prim and proper. They would never be seen at a pub or party and this generation criticizes them for it. Others, may be seen at social gatherings and some even spend a lot of time with immoral and corrupt people and this generation criticizes them for that. Non-Christians have always criticized Christians because they are out of step with each other's values.
Jesus said that believers would be criticized no matter what they do. John the Baptist was as ascetic as they come, and was criticized as having a demon. Jesus mingled socially with sinners and was criticized as a glutton and drunkard. John was seen as too holy and Jesus as not holy enough. However, despite all criticisms, wisdom shows that both were vindicated as right in God's sight. And wisdom shows that Christians are justified, despite criticisms from this generation . 11:16 "But to what shall I compare this generation? It is like children sitting in the market places and calling to their playmates, 11:17 'We piped to you, and you did not dance; we wailed, and you did not mourn.' 11:18 For John came neither eating nor drinking, and they say, 'He has a demon'; 11:19 the Son of man came eating and drinking, and they say, 'Behold, a glutton and a drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and sinners!' Yet wisdom is justified by her deeds."

Kathy, I suppose we can only do what our conscience (educated or uneducated, spirit-filled or spirit-part-filled) dictates. I think that God honors that. Gene, you are so right. We are all affected by this generation and need more of Christ in our lives.
