Chris, you Rock!  It is difficult to forgive when one has been deeply hurt...God is the way!~
Forgiving does not mean you get back into a bad relationship or have a friendship necessarily with the offender....it sets you free inside...

Awesome post brother!~

Chris, hopefully those Christians who curse will read your blog and think about how it looks to those who are watching them, what it does to their witness.  We should never stop seeking to improve our Christian walk, and I commend you for your convictions!  When my Christian friends curse, I jokingly offer them a funny word to replace it, usually something off the wall that makes no sense at all, but they laugh and get the message!

killing yourself is also like "slapping" God, and shows no true love.

but on the whole..... kudos to you.

SwearingPeople go to all kinds of extremes on cursing, swearing, filthy language, blasphemy, etc. The word "dang" that you used is called a euphemism. We all know what it really means. So, why did Christians stop using the word damned? I'm just guessing here, but it seems like they had more reverence for God's decision to send some to hell than we do today. Perhaps they were right.

On the other hand, euphemisms are everywhere. Where do we stop? We've all heard euphemisms like gosh, golly, gee whiz, etc. These are so much into the vocabulary today that people don't even know that they originally were blasphemies against God, taking God's name in vain.

On yet another hand, Paul calls his past religious experiences under Judaism dung. The Greek is market place language, not scholarly and probably a lot closer to the sh** word. So, what would God consider bad language and what would he not?

For me, blasphemy is number one on the list of bad language. I despise hearing OMG on television all the time. They will cut out the barnyard words, but allow blasphemy. I am very angry over that!
