A young man named Johnson

This morning I had a chance to testified to a young man called Johnson (not his real name). Johnson is about 24 and we was talking about Church after I invited him to come with me this Sunday to sunrise services. He looked at me and said I don't do the church thing any more Susan. He said I am a sinner, I looked back and him and said we are all sinners but I still go to church. He looked at me with misty eyes then he told me he used to go to church faithfully till a man he thought the world of let him down. I looked straight in his eyes and said was it God or Jesus? He said of course not it was my pastor. I said are you going to go to hell over something a simple man as a pastor done? He said I idolizes this man I wanted to be just like him but not now. He let me down so I  quit going to church. Hum Hum I said let me get this straight you stopped going to church because a pastor let you down he shook his head yes. I looked at him and said Johnson we have been talking for almost a year now. Please be honesty with me and tell me what kind of person you think I am. Well I know you are a christian women, hard worker and always have a great smile and not afraid to tell some one that cusses, you don't want to hear that kind of language around you. Then he laughed. I told him well Johnson  I was not always like you see me now. I told him my story and told him pastors, preachers, Fathers, and Mothers are all human and can fail you they can make mistakes the same as we can. I finished with saying Johnson never ever idolize any man or women put your faith in God he never changes and will never lead you wrong. God still loves us even if we make mistakes he is a forgiving and merciful God and always has his arms wide open to embrace us. All we have to do is turn to him and ask. 

Be careful how we walk, talk and act some young person maybe looking, after all we are their teachers.

On one hand, there's that verse "if anyone should cause a person to stumble ..." but then, ultimately one's faith shouldnt depend on a singular person as it does a Singular God!  Maybe Johnson will find a church that will help grow into such a faith.  Meanwhile, thanks for helping us to "keep watch" on how we're living the Word!
