| Days 3-4 |

As I continue to reflect on my walk with Christ, for these 2 days, I have thought about when I begin to lose a sense of God's presence in my life. It can actually be a pretty predictable pattern. Sometimes it is that I am too tired, other times I am too busy and sometimes I just don't feel like it or would rather do something else, but I brush off a day of seeking the Lord. That one day quickly becomes a second day. If we are not careful, 2 days can quickly turn into 2 weeks or 2 months that we have been setting aside out time with the Lord. Discipline means doing something daily whether we feel like it or not.
Is this legalsitic? If so, then so is my desire to spend time with my wife every day. Then so is someone's desire to exercise regularly. Sometimes reading the Word isn't always exciting. Does that mean we don't read it? Well, there have been days when what I made for dinner is less than thrilling, but the body requires food, so I eat. In fact, it is funny how we are seldom too busy to eat or sleep. We wouldn't let ourselves go days or weeks without eating or sleeping. Yet spiritually, we don't bat an eye to allow months to go by without abiding in the Lord's presence. |
