| Breaking Free of Drugs and Alcohol |

In order to break free from bondage to drugs and alcohol, you must first confess that bondage as sin! You must tell God that you want and need His forgiveness and deliverance. You must renounce your habit! Resolve that, with God's help, you will never again smoke another cigarette, another joint of marijuana, or whatever it may be that holds you in bondage.
After that, do not associate with those who helped to get you into trouble and who would soon have you back where you used to be. It may be hard to do that, but it is necessary. Instead, you should try to find Christians to support you during the first days of freedom.
It takes about thrity days to establish a new habit. It will take about the same length of time for your body to clean out the poisons and the chemical dependency. Keep full of the Holy Spirit. Replace what has controlled you with a new dimension of the Holy Spirit's fullness.
13:13 Let us walk becomingly, as in the day; not in revelling and drunkenness, not in chambering and wantonness, not in strife and jealousy. 13:14 But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to `fulfil' the lusts `thereof'.
