| God gave me some verses and I need help to better understand them please |
|

So the other night I was concerned for my friend who is Jehovah Witness because of her delicate medical condition. So anyways, I was praying for her and when I pray at night while in bed I usually fall asleep praying which is no biggy to me because it really helps me a lot especially to stay asleep. The other night was completely different because I clearly heard God tell me to look for two verses in completely different chapters. I am not sure what both of them mean but the first one that I looked up was isaiah 1:9 and it read:
1:9 If the Lord of armies had not kept some at least of us safe, we would have been like Sodom, and the fate of Gomorrah would have been ours. The next verse I got was in Hosea 1:9, 11 and it read: 1:9 And the Lord said, Give him the name Lo-ammi; for you are not my people, and I will not be your God.
1:11 And the children of Israel and the children of Judah will come together and take for themselves one head, and will go up from the land, for great will be the day of Jezreel. I have never heard God so loudly before than this night and it was so beautiful. My husband has told me to pray about these verses to get more information about them from God but I thought that I should also use my second best avenues; my friends!
if any of you can give me some of your insight on these, let me know. The reason I was praying was for my friend who is Jehovah witness and also has a very deadly form of cancer. I'm really concerned about her and I have grown very fond of her because of the love that she has shown me and my children throughout the years. I thought if you knew why I asked God for help then it might give you a better understanding of where I'm coming from.
Thanks to all of you who have helped me in the past in my walk with God and to all of you who will help me in the future with my walk as well!
God Bless! Lisa |

| Dear Lisa, i did some checking and Lo-ammi means "not my people." I dont know much about their doctrine, however from what i have heard they clearly are not Christians, so this verse might be referring to this! The 3rd verse you brought up , i checked and it refers to a scattering seed for planting, and an anticipated harvest. My personal opinion about what you have written is that the Lord is confirming your concerns regarding her cancer and the way the JW's dont heed to some of the normal medicinal practices. But even more than that would be that they are not his people. I believe in my heart he is letting you know to go forth planting seeds because the soil of her heart will be ready(harvest). I would do as your husband has said and pray about these verses. God will continue to confirm the things you are praying for in His word. These points i bring are just what i can think of, just because you are asking for a little insight. I pray that what i have told is not wrong info, and if you come to find something else, please let me know. But given what i have told you, i would start witnessing to her, but remember that JW's are very good with scripture. But i feel that the Lord is letting you know, that she will be receptive to hear what you have to say. Again this is just my opinion, i certainly am not a biblical scholar, just a sister in the Lord! God bless you and i will pray for you and especially for your friend! |

Yes I agree with Amy I checked that word
H3818 לא עמּי lô' ‛ammîy lo am-mee' From H3808 and H5971 with pronominal suffix, not my people; lo Ammi, the symbolical name of a son of Hosea: - Lo-ammi.
I would continue to witness and show here God's love. Continue to be concerned for her but straight up pray for her to find God in the illness. PRAY PRAY PRAY.... The Holy Spirit will do the great work that needs to be done. You just pray and do what the Holy Spirit prompts you to do. But definitely God is talking to you about her.
It is very important for you to get into a regular bible study. Have you joined one? This is something you can talk about in a bible study setting and woman, young and old that can take the time to help you with this better. And you can learn from them that are older in their faith as to how to be effective and tactful with your witnessing and just plain loving to your friend and you can share your triumphs and God stories with others.
Thanks for sharing and keep us posted....... Amy U. |

Can I just say thanks? I mean really, thanks! It's great to be able to use MyChurch as an uplifting Christian site when I need help with the scripture. I had an appiphiny today (wow, I really chopped that word up! lol) and I think that by simply being in my friends life, she will see the fruits of my labor because I can see them now. Before I started going to church, I didn't see past the next week let alone a few years from now when we could possibly buy a house. Now, I have my dreams back and it is thanks to the good lord. I truly believe that I have started planting the seed in her heart as you said to do Amy, and with much prayer and soon hopefully, I can help witness to this "witness" about the truth and the light.
Thanks so much for the help. I know that these little questions here and there may seem silly to some others but it is important for me and knowing I can count on everyone is nice! I'm starting to lose the bad feeling that everyone hates me (it is actually a condition by the way and I do have it) and I now know that it was never true to begin with. You are all truly amazing. God bless all of you!
