"The LORD was with Joseph and he prospered, and he lived in the house of his Egyptian master. When his master saw that the LORD was with him and that the LORD gave him success in everything he did, Joseph found favor in his eyes and became his attendant. Potiphar put him in charge of his household, and he entrusted to his care everything he owned. From the time he put him in charge of his household and of all that he owned, the LORD blessed the household of the Egyptian because of Joseph. The blessing of the LORD was on everything Potiphar had, both in the house and in the field." ~ Genesis 39:2-5
Wow! How incredible. God has been speaking to me through Joseph's life for the last few weeks. Look at the scripture above. It says that the LORD was with Joseph, prospered him and gave him success. But as you read on, you see that Potiphar was blessed because of Joseph's relationship with God! Amazing.
Do you see what this means? Do you see that by standing in right relationship with God, not only will you be blessed and prosper, but that your household, your company, your school will be blessed because of you?
Why? Because when God's favor is on you, then others perk up and take notice. Notice the verse that says "When his master saw that the LORD was with him and that the LORD gave him success..."
Potiphar, an Egyptian, a man who probably did not serve the living God, noticed when the LORD's hand was on Joseph.
Maybe you don't want your company or your school to be blessed. Maybe you've let a little root of bitterness spring up. Choke it out! Because you see, Potiphar may have used Joseph to his own advantage, but Joseph reaped the reward of promotion. Remember that I Chronicles 29:12b says this, speaking of the Lord: "it is at your discretion that men are made great and given strength."
Your promotion/popularity/leadership is not dependent on those around you, it is based on your relationship with Almighty God!
So here it is, my prayer for you, wherever you are: O Lord, help us each today to seek you. Not because we desire promotion, but out of genuine love for you. Let us look around and see that when we walk in right relationship with you, others sit up and pay attention, because your favor rests upon us. Even as Potiphar's house, and indeed all of Egypt was blessed as a result of Joseph's dedication to you, bless the companies, schools and households of every godly man or woman who walks with you. Let blessing upon blessing follow. Let promotion come. But even when we face testing as Joseph did in the jail, let us rise to the top of our circumstances and give you glory! In Jesus' Name - Amen. |
