DateBy your definition of dating, which seems to be the same as that of our sons, you are right. When I was in Bible college, dating had an entirely different meaning. We were expected to "date" every single girl in our class and challenged to date girls in other classes as well. However, we defined a date as any effort to spend time with a member of the opposite sex, not as intimacy or even exclusivity. In that sense, we remained friends, and we also got to know a wide variety of people of the opposite sex. By the time we were ready to graduate and get serious, we were able to make a more balanced and informed choice, because we had let our heads and friendships rule before our hearts and hormones.

Great!

Dating is really "divorce practice"

You date someone for a little while until things aren't going quite to your satisfaction. Then you dump them and move on to someone else. All this does is lead to that same line of reasoning after  matrimony.

Good Blog!

Dennis: I completely agree. Articles such as this are intended to breakdown Scripture and "simplify" our daily struggles in all areas to include dating and courtship. We must obey and abide in the Holy Spirit. He is God's gift to us to help us in our daily struggles and journeys. It is through Him that we can discern articles, such as this one, and Scripture. No one is perfect. And yes, everyone makes mistakes.

However, you must ask yourself, why are you "upset" or "concern" with a Scriptural based article? What is it about this particular article that convicts you?

I would just suggest that people reading Harris's book realize that he only told the defects of dating and didn't share the defects of the system he promotes.  Believe me, there are some problems to be avoided with courtship/groups.
