FAITH - message board community

Check it out. I'm trying to refocus my energy, so I've started a web community called FAITH (Forsaking All I Trust Him). It's bare-bones right now, but I'd love if you'd stop by and let me know what you think, and share any suggestions you may have.

I'm in Bible school right now, in addition to my full-time job as a Counselor... and want to create a message-board community in an effort to have a place for people (like me) to find Christian community, support, and learning... in the midst of the chaos of life.

I'm still working on building and customizing it, but it's great! There aren't many members, but 2 of the newest members are non-Christians, just seeking a place to learn more and hang out with some Christians. How cool is that?

Just out of curiosity, Kyleen, how is the new forum different than establishing a local community/group on MyChurch?

Kyleen, I guess my question is along the same lines as my buddy Gene's. You "want to create a message-board community in an effort to have a place for people (like me) to find Christian community, support, and learning... in the midst of the chaos of life." My first thought as I read that was....MyChurch.org!!

I love mychurch for blogging and having a xanga or livejournal kind of feel... but I've run a messageboard for the last 4 years that is not Christian-focused, and I like the format of that board. But I'm looking for a Christ-focused board. It's also a project. I still plan to blog on here, for sure! It's just a different venue for building Christian community. I love mychurch and still check in here every day, but for some reason a message-board format makes more sense to me for other things. It feels more secure to me. Can't explain it.

Kyleen, just messing around. It would be great to interact with you MORE on MyChurch. But then, you gotta do what God calls you to do! ps... I'll bet folks don't post dancing bananas on your "other site". lol

lol! Actually we had a little emoticon that was a dancing banana! Funny you mention that. And a dancing monkey. The monkey was my favorite one though.

Sorry I can't explain it better! But I don't really feel like I need to because I still plan to be around here while getting that community going. Not like anything is changing here, I'm just adding another community to the mix...

Maybe I can help explain. MyChurch is great! For Christians....but our role as Christians is to reach out to the non-churched community (Matthew 28). How are we supposed to reach the lost of we're intrenched in MyChurch. You're not going to have an aethiest accidently run across MyChurch and create a logon to read blogs. But on the bulletin Kyleen is creating there's a chance. There are different sites for different things. My prayer for everyone on MyChurch is that YOU will join me in prayer that this site will reach many of the lost. That they will "happen" across the site and take time to read it, get so enamored that they start seeking His face. Kyleen has a gift. What better way to use it! Way to go Kyleen. Best of wishes.

Thanks Cheryl! My passion is to extend support and hope in Christ... to everyone. You described it perfectly. I wanted a place that might be a little less threatening to "outsiders" than a place where the majority of frequently-posting people are extremely grounded and mature Christians. That's what I meant by it feeling more secure... safe... It has forums that do not require faith in Christianity, and it offers forums that do. Thanks for the wishes and support Cheryl!
