New letters from Scott...
I have to tell you some details before going into the letter.
Scott got word that "The Manson Man" had passed away. We do not know yet anything about if he was able to talk, was sent home, or if he shared his testimony with anyone. Scott is waiting to hear from his sister because we know that there is a story coming!
When he got moved, one of his new cell mates names was "Red". He too was an RX addict who gave his life to the Lord and was making HUGE progress because he was truly seeking changes in his life. Scott helped him write an action plan for his release which was scheduled for 3-19.
"3-19 We had all had a horrible day so when it came time for Bible study we changed the course of what we normally do and studied the Peace of God. Each one giving their story of where they are at in the Spirit and the changes that God has made in their lives. We talked about staying busy with out reach and lifting each other up. I divided them in groups of twos and gave them a mission of getting a third person and bringing them to prayer call and Bible studies. We will meet once a day and pray over each other and their list of "Goals for Souls". It was so good to see and hear their excitement for doing ministry.
Prayer call was awesome. Our time was spent on praying for the needs of others. Then I challenged them to seek God's gifts and find out what God made them for, so they could do the work for His Kingdom. There was a lot of praying, and some crying. It was amazing. It sounded like one voice and after words the were like kids with everyone asking everyone if they could feel it cuz the Holy Spirit was there.
"Red" left this morning. I pray that he follows the plan that we put together.
In the last few days 7 guys are gone. A few went upstate and a few rolled out. They have all been replaced -today. A new crew to tell what God can do for them.
3-20 Another great Prayer call. One of the guys received the Holy Spirit and began speaking in tongues. It weirded a few guys out but it did not chase them away. We have seen some great power in the group. It has been a wonderful experience. I never thought it would happen in a place like this.
3-22 Several of us are fasting and praying about Easter service. For God to reach some of the lost souls in here.
We found out today that "Red" was found dead the day after his release. They say that it was due to an overdose of heroine. He never did heroine, his drug of choice was prescription medication. I believe someone else had a hand in it. He had been my cell mate for over 30 days. His brother is in here. When he came back from being notified they put him in the hole so they could "watch" him. It's so stupid. He would be better off being supported and not isolated.
Of course I leave out the personal things about the inmates and my Husband, who ever visitation day gets depressed because we know that our pastor out there goes to see him and they don't let him in. It has been over two months.
I cannot wait until this whole thing is over. The Father gave US this verse the other day.
41:10 Fear thou not, for I am with thee; be not dismayed, for I am thy God; I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness. 41:11 Behold, all they that are incensed against thee shall be put to shame and confounded: they that strive with thee shall be as nothing, and shall perish. 41:12 Thou shalt seek them, and shalt not find them, even them that contend with thee: they that war against thee shall be as nothing, and as a thing of nought. 41:13 For I, Jehovah thy God, will hold thy right hand, saying unto thee, Fear not; I will help thee.
3-24 Another guy that left was found overdosed on heroine as well and is brain dead in the hospital. That is 2 in one week. There are guys in here that are saying that they were "rats" who got their poison. I don't know anything about that but it would not surprise me at all.
We had a GREAT prayer call! Two were released but were not gone yet so I got to tallking about -Just because you walk on the other side of those doors, does not mean you are free- the whole tier got involved! We ended with prayer and it was so powerfull that it had a huge impact on those guys.
The food amount they give you here is cruel. It is so little that you could fit it into a coffee cup. The same people that are contracted to do all the meals are the same people that do the store. It forces you to have to order food and of course the prices are outrageous! Then they keep it COLD- not cool but COLD to try to control the inmates. It all borders on abuse.
4-2 Lord, sometimes they are just so hard to read. There are sections of pain and misery, then sections of rejoicing and praise. My heart cries out for my Husband and the pain he shares with these men as they share their lives with him and shares the love of Christ with them.

In a cave, or in prison. What is the difference? Thanks for the update Ruth. As painful as it is to see Scott in that place unjustly, I praise the Lord for Scott and his faithfulness under such extreme duress.

I worked in a prison for 3 years. Where I worked, they wouldn't have put him in the whole unless he ecpressed a weakness for control. Maybe he told someone that he felt like dying also and this set an officer on alert. I agree, he needs to be with his friends and brothers in Christ. You wouldn't believe the diversity of religions in the prison. And the prison system tries to cater to them all. There are some very righteous inmates locked up. And the whole, is a very bad place. I worked in both areas. Officers are suppose to go by every two hours to check on inmates. Not all of them do this. Also, the whole is for the ones that don't really know how to behave. How much longer does he have? I am praying for you both!

Thank you so much for sharing with us. I will pray for Red's family, for Scott's ministry and for you and Scott. What a powerful message you received in Isaiah 41:10-13.

Ruth, I am sorry, I commented and then went back and read the rest of your post. What a horrible feeling of helplessness you both must have. But, knowing what we do, we know that God doesn't make mistakes and that there is a reason! I have never been inside a jail before and there is a significant difference between that and prison. I am praying that God continue blessing you two, and anyone else involved. This situation reminds me of the book of Job. You should read Steven Anthony's blog, "Why Worry." I know that is easier said than done, but it can be done! I love you, sister. I love your strength and loyalty. God bless you!
