. . . and I have not always been pleased with His choice!

Of course, he never asked me for my advice in advance, either.   8^D

Likely I wouldn't have approved of Herod, Pharoah, nor Nebuchadnezzar! Not to mention Jezebel!

But, you're right, Charlie!  God used the bad ones, sometimes more dramatically than the good ones, to bring about what he wanted for his people.

I guess we need to be praying that He not send us an oppressing Pharoah, nor a child-murdering Herod. And one more thing we should be praying for . . . our next leadership . . . either good or "froward".

Hey Charlie, brilliant blog!!! When I saw the title, certain thoughts went through my mind, like "God's choice may not even be the most Godly or supposedly Christian candidate!" And then I read, and you basically made the same point. How do you like that dude, we're on the same page!

In this general election there is no "Christian" candidate. So who does God want us to vote for? I say with complete confidence, that is a personal decision each of us has to make. And in this case, my decision may be different than yours and that is completely fine w/God. God will see that whoever gets elected will serve God's purposes above all. Praise God!

Hey there Art and Mike.  Thanks for the comments.  It's been a while since I blogged.  I agree, From OUR perspective there appears to NOT be a "good candidate" or not one we would have chosen.  I was somewhat concerned when I thought about that and my mind took off wondering just where is America going!?!

I thought of Saul, God was hurt as well as Samuel, to realize the people were wanting a king.  God gave them the king that pleased them!  I'm wondering if God is doing the same with America.  Have we turned our hearts away from OUR real King?

Here's the good news.  Out of all this apparent disappoint, God brought forth a king of His choice, David.  Sometimes God gives us the desires of our hearts to show us how far away our hearts have turned from Him.  David was a king after God's heart.

Upon this reflection, I found peace.  God may be using all this to show US something about our hearts; He loves us sooo much, but He will discipline His loved ones, to draw us back to Himself.

16:7 But Jehovah said unto Samuel, Look not on his countenance, or on the height of his stature; because I have rejected him: for `Jehovah seeth' not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but Jehovah looketh on the heart.

One Christian leader often recognized for his accurate prophecy stated that the next president will not be Christian when he enters the Oval Office, but would experience conversion and will become God's man. I don't know who that is, but I'll definitely cast my vote.

I could see how being president might bring you to God!

Well, I am still casting my vote.  You are right though about God raising up and casting down kings and kingdoms.  My greatest fear is that we may have to go through a Pharaoah, or Nebuchadnezzar experience in order to get our nation back to God.  Or, what if He let's us go our own way like He did the Northern Kingdom?  We'll see, and we'll trust God through it all.

What got me to thinking about this is that there is no candidate of "MY" choice this time.  I began to seek the Lord about it..and that's when I realized I should be seeking Him and His choice first, and set my choice aside if need be.

Then I began to think more about what could happen and why.  I've been writing blogs about this just to shake folks up that God is in control and His love for us just may take us down a road we would not choose to take.  I thought about what Jesus said to Peter in Jn. 21.  That has opened up a whole new perspective and consideration of my priorities in this life.

Thanks bro Todd for your comments.  Aren't you glad we know Him who KNOWS all and cares for us more than we could ever imagine?

21:18 Truly, truly, I say to you, when you were young, you girded yourself and walked where you would; but when you are old, you will stretch out your hands, and another will gird you and carry you where you do not wish to go."

Yes it is a wonderful thing to trust in the sovereignty of God.  He is just and true in all of His ways and on top of that He has promised to work things together for the good to them that love God.  So even if we have to walk through the Valley of the Shadow of Death, we need not fear but trust in Him.  He is a good shephered indeed!
Charlie, thanks for the post and it is a very true and solemn word.
