The Lord can shut something big down in a moment and He can breathe on something small and make it big. But neither of them are great because of their size - either way that it goes. Something is great because the heart of God is manifested in the heart of the people that are part of it; not because of its size. (Life of David, session 7).
If we measure something or someone’s success by the size of it, or it’s level of influence or reputation, then when it’s big - we’re successful and when it’s not big - we’re not successful. Success is not measured by such a thing. God promotes and He demotes. He lifts up and presses down. He causes all things to do as He wills. We cannot out-do or out-wit God. Our focus has to be on the primary issue of life. We can’t major in secondary things. We also can’t do God’s part and He won’t do ours. But He does tell us to pray and seek His face. That’s a spiritual thing that we do. It’s our part. It’s doing something that moves the spirit realm. It is spiritual and has supernatural effects.
When will we realize that only God CAN? Only He can control the wind and waves. He put Joseph in both the prison and the palace. He did the same with David and Daniel and Moses. God makes the sun rise and set and He caused the animals to gather to the ark two by two. Why do we exhaust ourselves building what will fade and turn to dust. It is not ours but it is God’s. He must build it. We must cry out and seek His face for what He would have us do with what He has given us and what He will give us.
