What's up everyone? I just wanted to give a little update on the outreach Andrew and I had in downtown Baton Rouge today. Everything went really well and we were warmly welcomed by those looking for cold drinks and free lunch. We had about 40 sandwiches and a cooler full of cold sodas. The temp today was about 80 degrees so lots of people were happy to see us with a cooler full of cold drinks. We talked to several people and had the chance to give some food and drinks to a couple of guys mowing lawns who didn't have any money (we were not asking or taking money but several people tried to give it, or said they didn't have it.). It was all good though because we were there to share the love of God for FREE. NO agenda. Just serving a need. One guy we talked to had gotten stranded and had slept in a ditch the night before and hadn't eaten in Two days. So we loaded him up on free food and drinks. We also got to pray with him about the situation. It's kinda frustrating when that is all you can do, but we gave him some names of places in the city he could go and sleep at tonight. Several people thought it was awesome that we were handing out food and drinks just because. The weather was really on our side because if you live here in Louisiana 80 degrees in like 120 with humitity (well maybe more like 95. But you get the point). Anyway, it was a great day and loads of people were touched. I would say we probably talked to anywhere from 50-80 people. That's the low down for now. I will share more later on what happened and what we learned from today. Until then. Much love, Shawn |
