As you have mentioned, the apostle Paul wrote about running a race.  Just before that he mentions about training for the event. Every "athlete" trains.  In my instance - I hone, develop and perfect my skills - as when all athletes train for an event and a medal that will eventually fade away and go into obsurity, I train for a medal that will last forever.  Do everything with excellence.  That doesn't necessarily mean perfection (because nobody is perfect).  Its taking what you have and doing the best you can with it.

Great lesson Linda and so true!  You cannot steer parked cars!  Let's get to work in the areas the church needs most, and God will see our humility and our servant's heart. God will bless us and reveal our gifts and purpose in His Body. Unles we exercise the one gift everyone gets at the start...Love, there is no reason to put anymore on our plate.

Be blessed!

Ditto, great lesson and true. Running towards daddy God is the only way.

You are so right.  God's direction is something that we must discover.  He has a plan and we need to find it.  It does no good running the race unless we know which way to run!

Excellent post!
