Here’s a quick little blog for my first attempt to help those who are new to this type of forum. This should help get you up and running. Just let me know if you get stuck and I’ll be glad to help.
If you’re reading this, you’ve already managed the first step which is to get registered. Now you want to setup your profile.
PROFILE
Ø Start out by adding a picture of yourself. This is optional, but it will help your friends to find you.
· Your page will look like this: · Click on “Upload photos” · Click on “Browse” and find your picture on your computer. (Note: The picture must be 1MB or smaller in JPG or GIF format. Click here if you need help in formatting your picture.) Click on “Open” in order to choose the picture that you want. · Click on “Upload” to save the picture to the website. (You can save up to 10 photos) · Once you have photos saved, click on “Make Profile Picture” next to your favorite picture.
Ø Now, enter your profile and tell about yourself. This is also optional. If you are concerned about security, scroll down to read my suggestions on that topic.
· Starting out on your Home Page (click on “Home”), click on “Edit Profile”

· Now you are ready to say a few words about yourself. You can use the formatting features – or paste from another program that you’re more familiar with. Click on “Submit” when you’re finished. If you’re really ambitious, you can add some of your favorite music, books, etc.
E-MAIL SETTINGS If you’re like me, you already get tons of e-mail and a lot of spam. You can cut down on the number of e-mails that you receive from MyChurch by following the link here and watching the tutorial that Eli Silva from THQ has created. Just un-check the boxes next to the items listed to stop receiving e-mails for those items.
SECURITY Whenever you are on the internet, you should always keep good security measures in mind. You should never put too much identifying information (i.e. full name, location, information about where you will be on a certain day, etc.) Make sure to take these simple precautions to keep yourself safe.
Ø Change your display name to make sure that it does not include your full last name:
· Start out on the Home page and click on “Settings”
 · Ensure that your display name does not include your full name. Use a nickname that your friends will recognize or use just first name and last initial. When finished making changes to your display name, click on “Submit.”
Ø Change your privacy settings for greater protection:
· Start out on settings page (see directions above)
· Click on “Privacy”
· Click on the box next to any items that you want to keep private and click “Submit”

If you would like more advanced information on how to add friends, blog, or anything else, just let me know and I'll write Part 2.
