I moved from Maryland to South Carolina and have been here more that one year now. Now granted I was raised up in South Carolina by very strict parents who have passed on to be with the Lord. I was in church every Sunday whether I wanted to be there or not. There was no getting around staying home from church on Sunday morning. Those older folk did not let one child stay home from church on Sunday . So I had to sit in church Sunday after Sunday and listen to those old church hyminals and watch my mother from the choir stand giving me those looks if I did anything wrong. I really had to pray hard on Sunday morning because the singing was not very good, I respected my parents and was obedient. I never talked back because I was too afraid of the consequences.
Now , moving back has been a challenge for me. Nevertheless, things that I thought had changed here in South Carolina is still the same. I see people still struggling with issues such as: lack of money, housing issues, lack of jobs, lack of schooling, smoking outside the churches. Now granted these things were going on when I left here in 1970. I see many people church leaders living in fancy homes and not reaching out to the community to help those that really need help. . People are coming to the churches, giving their last and sometimes without food to eat. Why is this still happening (37) years later ? It's called ( NOT TRUSTING GOD).
I believe this is happening because many people are living on self-will and not trusting God to provide from them. Many people put there confidence in man instead of God. Many people are not contented with what they have and are not being totally dependent on God to change any situation. The secret of facing any situation is to draw strength from God. Christ is your supplier, not man. Stop blaming people and circumstances for your situation. You have to do something to help change the situation . The first thing that needs to be done is to give your life to Christ. Confess Jesus is the Lord of your life as in Roman 10:9-10. Then live a life that is pleasing to the Lord. Then God is obligated to give you the desires of your heart. God already know what you have need of before you ask. The second thing is to pray. If what you prayed for is not answered immediately. Wait patiently for the Lord and His timing (not yours). Also while you are waiting for your answer, check yourself out to see if there is anything that you are doing wrong in your life that may hinder God's answer such as: Disobedience ( Deut. 1:43-45). Unconfessed Sins (Psm 66:18). Indifference (Proverbs 2:24-33). Neglect of Mercy (Proverbs 21:13). Turning away from the Commandments (Proverbs 28:9). Stubbornness (Zech 7:11-13). Instability (James 1:6-7) Self-Indulgence (lust) ( James 4:3)
Church folks : Get delivered from those old habits. Remember : YOUR BODY IS THE TEMPLE OF THE HOLY GHOST. GOD SEE EVERYTHING THAT YOU DO.
The third thing is to have faith in God to do everything that you have asked Him to do. Then rest in in and pray the prayer of thanksgiving. God is working it out for you.
When we commit our ways to God's will, He will discipline us and we will experience His peace and joy for our lives. Let's stop those generation curses (now) so it does not pass ont to others. Amen
