| One Answer to "WHY |

Our family had wondered with David having such a wonderful baseball season in his senior year in high school, why didn't a college closer to home pick him up. As many friends would say, "How is David sliding under the radar of all these colleges?" David had a super batting average (.517), broke several school records (season & career), and won several honors during his 4 years as a Varsity baseball player. The only college that gave him a serious look was Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale. Although, it's still in the state, it's about 4 hours away and such a change from the rural little county that we live in. Then this past week, we learned at least some of the answers to our 'why'. David's roommate asked him to explain all about this Christianity thing and how to be a Christian. David got on the phone immediately with his older brother who is a Children's Pastor. After talking with David, my eldest son said, "Mom, I think God sent David down to Fort Lauderdale for this exact situation. He just may be the only one who can reach this boy." I sat back and thanked God for being so wise and knowing so much more than I do. He sees the whole picture while we just see such a tiny part of the whole. If the only reason David is down there is to bring this young man to the Lord, then it is worth all the culture shock and homesickness that David has endured. By the way, David is doing well in college baseball and not bad at all in his academics. He told me that he's now learned that he'll have to manage his time better next spring when he has baseball games and classes. Sounds like the boy is growing up some. I ask that whoever reads this please pray for David to have the right words to say to this boy or any other young person that he encounters who is seeking the Lord. David has a great faith in God and doesn't mind standing up for his Savior. May God richly bless you and yours as He has blessed our family. |
