Growing In Faith
April 01, 2008 at 11:38am

Well, the Lord is working on us both here in Cleveland...I have a 'draft' saved on my blogs titled "What's the Point" and it addresses the realization I had that if something I am watching or listening to or 'entertaining' myself with is not in line with my Christian faith, then it's a waste of my time - what's the point?

And it was the natural extrapolation that you mentioned that I was thinking of:  I am well aware to stay away from things that are anti-Christ or anti-God, but what about all the stuff out there that is just 'Christ neutral'?  Aren't there so many better things to do to honor God or AT THE VERY LEAST keep my focus on Him, in the direction of heaven?

Good post!

Cathy -
Not necessarily.  But if it if time for first pitch and I haven't spent goos time with the Lord yet, I need to think twice!  A game here or there may be fine, but I don't think I could watch every game this season.

Growing -
I was struck once (I think I was studying in 2 Timothy at the time) when I noticed that sometimes the Bible talks about that which is ungodly and sometimes about that which is godless.  There are some things that are just against God.  But there are other things just devoid of God altogether - "Christ neutral."  Again, there is nothing "wrong" with these things, but for me - I need to be careful how much I am putting in my mind that will not actively urge me forward in Christ and will leave me numb.  Because I am a sports fan, I stick with that illustration.  I did not wacth the Indians last night, but I know they won.  I could have watched the game for 2 hours then tried to pray, but in the back of my mind I would be wondering why C.C. didn't have a great game, what they need to do differently in the next game.  This is why I have had to stop listening to sports radio as well as political talk shows - my mind gets focused on that stuff and it becomes hard to give Jesus my undivided attention.
