| Pleading The Blood of Christ |

2:13 And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses; 2:14 Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross; 2:15 [And] having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it. The Christian's victory over Satan and his kingdom was accomplished by what Christ did for us on the cross. Christ has already defeated Satan and all his evil powers and authorities totally and forever. He accomplished this conquest by: His death on the cross, through shedding his blood for the sins of the world, and through his victorious resurrection!
Satan has a few weapons in his arsenal to use against the believer. One of his greatest weapons is Guilt, shame, and condemnation. Did you know that Satan accuses us before God day and night? 12:10 And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night. Satan accuses us to make us feel guilty and ashamed. When we feel guilty we do not feel worthy of waht God has done for us. Guilt tells us that we should be punished more than what we have received. Lucifer tells us that we don't deserve forgiveness, that we are unworthy of God's love and acceptance because of our failures. You might have heard him say something to this effect: "Who do you think you are? What gives you the right to represent God? You are so full of sin, that if everyone knew your heart you would be embarrassed! You are a fake, a phony, a fraud, a hypocrite!" Ever heard any of that? I know I have.
Guilt is a mechanism that God put in our conscience so that we would have remorse for our sin. It was put there to keep us from being hardened to sin. However, Satan has taken that mechanism that was meant to bring conviction and has put it to wrong use and he beats us up with our past and current failures to the point we become ineffective and useless to the kingdom of God. When you hear, "you are not good enough, you are not wrothy enough , you are not smart enough, you don't have enough faith, you don't have enough experience, you are too immature, irresponsible, you are not spiritual enough etc..." recognize it that it is the talk of the enemy! He is the accuser of the brethern!
God through the cross has dealt with this problem of guilt! Both in the past and in the future. He has made total provision for both. God dealt with all of sins of the past by forgiving us all of our sins. Cols 2:13 2:13 And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses; Do you realize how wonderful that is? ALL OF YOUR TRESPASSES HAVE BEEN FORGIVEN! |

The paragraph beginning "Guilt is a mechanism..." was fascinating to read, never heard it put like that before! Great points Todd!
I came to the conclusion after reading Col 2:13-15 a few months ago that sin is a pretty meaningless word to me anymore. Yeah, I mess up and need God's forgiveness, but it isn't a legal action anymore, it's a father restoring/repairing a relationship w/his son!!!! |

That's right Mike! If we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jeus, his Son purifies us from all sin." Therefore there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. We are under the blood! Protected and Provided for Wow!
I want you to know that I appreciate your ministry. |

Oh that's good.....it's real good.
I hear those condemning voices a lot. But I am learning to recognize them. The more we fight them off the less the devil uses them against us.
I believe the devil gets tired easy. You throw things back in his face enough times and he gets worn out. He's such a liar and a punk!
I think it was Smith Wigglesworth that said he woke up one night because something was stirring at the end of his bed. He rolled over and saw it was the devil and said. "Oh, it's only you", and went back to sleep!
Good Word! |

Guilt and shame are not bad things. Its like the pain that you feel when you cut yourself. It lets you be aware of something that is wrong or unusual. Then you can attend to it.
We are always going to have shortcommings. Its good to be aware of it. We already have forgiveness of past, present and future sin. But repentence is important. |

| Guilt was put there by God for sure. Shame is a result of violating God's commands. Yes, they are intended to convict us and bring us to repentance. They can bind you up though for sure. Satan likes to tell us we are bad, but God has already forgiven us. We are free in Christ that is good news! I give you a BIG AMEN ON THAT COMMENT! Thank you, Grace! |
