Have you seen the Walt Disney movie "Invincible" staring Mark Wahlberg? It is based on the true story of Vince Papale.
In 1976 the Philadelphia Eagles of the NFL did a very rare thing -- they held open tryouts for their team. Vince was the only person they invited from the tryouts to come to training camp. He was thirty years old at the time and had only played one year of football in high school and none in college.
Against all odds Vince Papale made the team and became a special teams star. He played three years for the Philadelphia Eagles and was a great inspiration to the team and to the city of Philadelphia.
Invincible is a great movie! It is incredibly inspiring. It is clean -- little or no foul language, no sexual immorality -- but it is real. It shows the hard times of Vince and his buddies, factory workers struggling through a strike.
Invincible shows how one person's life and accomplishments can make a great, positive difference for others. It challenged me to do all I can to make my life count (for myself and for others). Invincible showed me that no matter how the cards may appear to be stacked against us, as human beings we all still have amazing potential if we don't give up and if we have the courage to take a scary opportunity when it appears.
Check it out! Watch it with your heart open. It will make you feel good about the wonderful possibilities that can still happen in YOUR life!
