Jesus claimed he was:

• The Christ (Messiah)
• Son of God
• Came from Heaven
• God was his Father
• God sent him to Earth
• He is one with God
• Knows all things

It's hard if not impossible to comprehend. Phillip wanted to see the Father for sufficient understanding. But Jesus said that if you knew Him, you knew the father.

It easier to think of Jesus on the human level. We question His authority because he mentions the Father. It makes me think of calling customer service and not getting the answer you want, you get frustrated and say "I need to speak to the manager." Jesus was saying that He was the manager and the author of creation. He has the authority and we can trust Him.

Jesus says God dwells in Him and does the works. This is such Good News and Truth for us. You see if only Jesus is the manager then we are simply 1st line customer service. but if Jesus dwells in us, we can do "works" of God.

God loves people and is calling out to them for a relationship and fellowship. He wants to know them and make their lives better. He wants you to trust Him. Jesus said to the disciples that they should believe, should trust Him because God was in Him. If they couldn't do that he said that they should believe because of the works God had done through Him.

The people around us need to see that we think and act differently. We think differently because Jesus live in our minds. We act differently because of the works we can now accomplish with Jesus dwelling in our hearts.

The disciples thought that Jesus was saying He was special because of His relationship God. To me, I even sense a hint of envy in them at first. But Jesus' ministry was all about God's love for each of us. God loves us and thinks you are special. We are in this life together forever because of His sacrifice on the cross for us. We can have that special relationship and power too.
