So yesterday I had surgery at 730am to have my gall bladder removed - the actual surgery only took 45 minutes but I spent almost 2 hours in the stage 1 recovery room when I work up I was in so much pain on the scale from 1-10 my pain was like an 8 which is crazy so my nurse Denise gave me meds and kept asking me - has it eased up any - and I had to keep telling her no - at one point it did go down to a 7 and at that point she allowed me to roll over on my side because my back was hurting so bad from lying on it so long - she was probably one of the best nurses I've ever had - she sat there and chatted with me and tried to keep my mind off the pain I was having - we talked about my job and she was impressed with what I do because I'm only 25. Finally a dr came in and signed orders for her to give me something stronger than I was already getting and to give me an anti-inflamatory - after that my pain finally got to a 5 on the scale and I was taken to stage 2 recovery, which is where you go home from - at that point it was like 11am so it had been a really long day. But when I tell you that even though I was in pain from being cut 4 times the other pain that I had been having a consistent burning in my stomach and side pains were gone - I told my mom it was a miracle because it was such a relief - I'm so thankful that God allowed me to have a Dr that knew what she was doing and that my symptoms were related to my gall bladder to do the right tests and refer me to a surgeon who was very nice and funny! and then I had great nurses - which is completely AWESOME!!!! So I was finally released around noon to go home - oddly enough yesterday I wasn't in a lotta pain well ok because I had had so much pain meds in the hospital 4 different things in my IV then a pill when I got to recovery 2 - but I still took it easy until I realized that I needed to go to wal-mart for some stuff - so my mom told me the only way I could go was if I rode the cart around - well when you have laproscopy they fill your inside with gas and you have to walk it out - or you'll be in tremendous pain so I decided that I'd walk around Wal-Mart it was good for the gas but a bad decision for my incision at my belly button - it started bleeding so I'm going to have to go to the Dr today to make sure I didn't pull any of the stiches out or mess anything up - it's 4am now and I've been up since 240 because I'm in pain - so I moved from my bed, which I should have never slept in to our recliner couch - with a heating pad on my incisions cause I have 4 of them! maybe i'll be brave and take a few pictures of them. I am off from work until April 14th because it's still travel season so I wanted to take more time off - I'm only suppose to be out a week but the day after I go back to work it's back on the road with a trip to Augusta for 3 days and then a trip to Savannah for 3 days - I'm totally excited!!! So that being said - I'm stuck at home until Saturday when I am cleared to drive again so if any of you want to chat with me - I'll be on aim! my screen name is manamamita - and on yahoo at jamieward2001 Thanks for everyone's prayers - I appreciate them - now I'm praying for a speedy recovery and that I didn't mess anything up yesterday walking around wal-mart 12 hours after my surgery! |
