| When I feel as a Hypocrite ;-( |
|
| |
Have you felt as a hypocrite when you have to do something that you don't want to or feel like doing it? I did feel like it...many times!!! And recently I spoke with some friends that do not “feel” like praying or they do not “feel” like doing something; and because of that they believe that if you do not “want or feel” you are acting in hypocrisy toward God or others.
It is true that God demands that our motive and reason for doing things be right, but this does not mean that we always want to, or delight in, doing something. To do what God wants you to do, or to do unto others what you would want them to do unto you, is not hypocrisy (Mt. 7:12)- even if you don't feel like doing it. It is hypocrisy only when your motive for doing it is wrong and you're not genuinely seeking the welfare and benefit of others. Remember, Jesus didn't feel like going to the cross, but He went anyway to seek the welfare and benefit of the world.
Agape love is described as the, "love (that) can be known only from the actions it prompts." This is not the love of complacency or affection, that is, it was not drawn out by any excellency in its objects (Rom. 5:8).
Christian love (agape), whether exercised toward the brethren, or toward others generally, is not an impulse from the feelings. It does not always run with the natural inclinations. It (Agape) seeks the welfare of all (Rom. 15:2) and works no ill to any (Rom. 13:8-10). "(Agape) seeks opportunity to do good to all men. . ." Let God's love flow through us today.

Oh Jenily, I love the truths God gives through you! God wants obedience, not in a demanding way...through love. As we would reference to Him in the south...God is a gentleman.
I love you lady and more importantly...God loves you! |

You're definitely not alone with these feelings, but it's what God sends Us to do...Praise Him in the Storms (one of my favorite songs form Casting Crowns).
Love you in Christ! Because I'm still mad @you punk...LOL!

| Obedience is always better than sacrifice. Love is not a feeling (although feelings can accompany it) it is a Decision! Good Word Jenily! |

Jenily:
I like the post, but I'm troubled by the following statement:
"Remember, Jesus didn't feel like going to the cross, but He went anyway to seek the welfare and benefit of the world."
Correct me if I'm wrong (which all signs point to "yes, Gio, you need to read your Word more"), but wasn't Jesus fulfilling the prophecies, and, in doing so, willingly gave up his life?
Sounds to me like Jesus was seated with the Father at the throne and he MUST HAVE HAD TO feel like coming to earth, preach the Kingdom, give up his body in sacrifice, in the process humiliating the Devil at His resurrection.
I mean, who would rescind their throne to go through THAT? He must have FELT something. I call it love.
Oh my gosh, I just reminded myself of WHY I am a believer. Thank you, Lord. Thank you, Father. ...and thank you Holy Spirit for inspiring Jenily. ;)
- G
P.S. ( I know, it's semantics I'm questioning, but I wanted to add that to the conversation, and add some food for thought). |

Hey G,
Know you addressed the question to Jenily, but you two don't mind me adding my two cents....I agree with both sides.....Jesus laid down His life willingly because of His overwhelming LOVE for us and fulfilling the prophecy; however He also prayed in the garden of Gethsemane before this trial in His life began for God to take this cup from Him. Wow, the Love God and Jesus have for us. I could not give up my child for a bunch of sinners. Wow!
Love ya guys chow chow~ |

Great post Jenily!
Hebrews 12:2 ....looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.
I agree that Jesus was not looking forward to the cross. He was looking forward to the Joy that was beyond the cross. He despised, or dis-esteemed the shame. He magnified, or glorified the Father because he knew that the end result was greater than steps required to get there.
What are we magnifying? What are we despising? Good food for thought here Jenily!
Love you! |

Very Good Jeny... Today I feel as a Hypocrite...But I know God love me always... 54:10 For the mountains may depart, and the hills be removed; but my lovingkindness shall not depart from thee, neither shall my covenant of peace be removed, saith Jehovah that hath mercy on thee.

Salvation? What is the color of guilt? When I feel guilty about something I did or something I should have done but didn't I feel the color grey. That is how I feel right now. I know I have blogged alot of doom and gloom recently, but today I feel bad because I didn't make it to Mass or confession. And of all days today was Divine Mercy Sunday. Call me hypocrit. Call me grey. I am not very good at walking the walk, but I sure can talk the talk. Now I will feel guilty all year long and do one of 2 things, 1. I will sulk and avoid holy things and good people and wallow in my guilt. Or I will 2. Try to go to confession at every opportunity and make it to mass regularly. I don't know how my mom and dad never missed mass with all nine of us children without fail. I guess it is so easy to be lazy, lame and laxed this day and age. Now is when it really matters though, so I should feed very, very bad. Keep me in your prayers if you will. I wish I could know if anything I have to say really affects anyone. I read blogs and I feel I know a person by what is on their mind. Please tell me what you think? May God love you and keep you all of your days, Clarita |
