I’m not familiar with the previous post that you mentioned. However, I understand your point; we, Christians have the inclination to segregate ourselves, as any other community. BUT… I’m going to share my personal experience with mychurch.org I developed a way to spread the gospel and invite other to the community. Every month I send an E-newsletter with more than 200 emails, English and Spanish sending the post I wrote during the passed weeks. I also create a mirror of my blog mujereejemplar.org/blog, into the community I created in mychurch, I’m growing in subscriber that maybe one day may join mychurch. Further more because of that I received two invitations to share the Word with a group of believers in Virginia and this week I received another invitation to spoke to a group of Non-believer in Argentina to the  National Federation  of Women… I believe we can make our time in mychurch more soul-effective and less chick – chat …but there is nothing wrong with been here together. You said “In the time since this blog was posted within the warm, welcoming confines of mychurch - where we're all (for the most part) saved believers - how many UNSAVED people did each of you talk to? How many heard the Gospel from you?”I understand your frustration but sometimes we cannot meet the needs of every single person in the world. Remember the parable of the Samaritan; this wounded man was directly in the path of those three men. The priest and the Levite had to walk around him. Jesus thought that we should take advantage of the opportunities we have. The fact that we can't help everyone is no excuse not to help anyone.  That’s a real true!

Jesus, through this parable, defined a neighbor as any fellow human being that crosses our path and is in need of our assistance. The Samaritan went to the full extent of his ability - and beyond - to help the man. The priest and Levite did nothing.
Maybe I can not change what is going on in Africa, more that prayer…I  can take advantage of this network to change the life of those that cross my path!I like this post…so much

Awesome post and I love that it is 'level-set'.  Both topics and Salvation are important...I love a great and informative read {not to be selfish} but yes balance is the key.  We must also keep in mind of the Great Commission and go ye therefore unto the land....the harvest is white as snow...who will harvest it?

Blessings~

Paul,

Clarion Call brother!  Discipleship is the answer to most of our questions.  I think so many have forsaken the Gospel for a platform during this political season that the new (or less aware) christian could easily be lead to believe that they were doing GOD's work by simply picking a side and campaigning ad nauseum to put "the chosen one" in office.  But it is up to those who truly know GOD to keep the focus on Him and direct processes as He leads us.  We have never....NEVER..... had a candidate that was completly beyond reproach.  But we have had several leaders do great things by letting GOD lead their broken selves down a challenging path.  I just wish more voters would be galvanized by the chance to make changes than divided by lack of understanding.  Wrote a blog a couple of months ago about just that.  http://www.mychurch.org/blog/125246/Free-to-be-You-and-Me

Keep calling us to task and I'm sure a soul will be saved.

Peace,
Bhek

Jenily - it was a post about Barack Obama talking about racism, and the discussion devolved into who is 'right' and 'wrong'  - you know, a typical political discussion.  I did not link to it because it is really not important the content of that blog, but that so many people fell into the "I am a Christian, therefore I think anyone who votes such-and-such way is stupid"...it really was falling into using the "I'm a Christian - here's why you're wrong" technique that turns many away from the message of the Gospel and Christ.  That's what got me thinking that - if we can walk around (or post, as the case is here) talking about things of this world when the work of evangelism is going undone, aren't we missing the mark?

Your blogs are the 'good ones', I must say - they are what I like about mychurch - discussion and further insight about being Christian and your personal 'walk with Christ'.  That's the fellowship that is nice.  The other work you do with your writings DOES hopefully reach the lost.  But this is 'safe ground' for a Christian - the whole "Preaching to the choir" thing.

Cheryl - Balance is it!  My pastor wrote this blog: http://www.mychurch.org/blog/162692/Losing-Focus?c=245409 regarding how we can lose focus on what's important with television, entertainment, and in this case, political debate...it's so true everything has a place, but we are tasked with prioritizing!

Bhek - I thank you for your post and I agree that we make the best choice we can with our votes...and that at the end of the day, we have to offer that up to the Lord and trust in His wisdom to know better than we ever could where it will take us.

I guess the idea behind this is as follows:  if we can take all this time to discuss blogs and our opinions, we should prioritize and also take time to reach out to the lost.  Heck, use the political landscape as a jumping off point to the discussion about things NOT of this World!

And, I just wanted to add, that I'm not saying I am not one of the people in the 'group' that I speak of - which is why I referenced Spooksam's blog...we all have things that take our eyes off the work that needs to be done, and I pray that we all keep trying!  :)
