| Losing my faith in humanity |

It is hard for me, sometimes, to have any faith in humanity. Overall, it seems that the human race has become so evil. Everyday, I browse the news and read about murders and torture. I see an increasing devaluation of human life. To a surprisingly large number, life is not precious. I read recently, where third graders were developing a plan to attack their teacher. Just a few months ago, here in WV, a family tortured a girl for several days, abusing her physically, mentally, and sexually. Even I have experienced the evil of humans in recent days. Last week, someone stole flowers from both my porch and front yard. In the past month, I noticed that someone has scraped the back panels on both sides of my car. Of course, no one owned up to the damaged caused. It is easier to run from problems instead of owning up to the times in our lives when we fall.
I cannot say that all of humanity is evil. I know a lot of good people who try really hard to serve God. Of course, Christians are not perfect. The difference between the rest of the world and us Jesus-freaks, is that we continually seek to grow closer to God, we strive to be better people, and we attempt to avoid the sins of this world. It can be a difficult task. It is a task that many people do not want to undertake.
All I can do is continue to pray that God's Will will be done in this world. I have already forgiven those who have wronged me. Also, I realize that flowers and cars are worldly possessions that will wilt, rot, or eventually turn to dust. My treasures in Heaven will always be there. I will live my life as an example so that others may see the joy of knowing a God who loves them more than anything. This world will fall, but my God has promised me life eternal. I will not live for this world, as I have been set aside for a grander purpose. |

Dear brother,
Stop listening to and watching the [bad] news for your own mental health! I mean it!
An acquaintance of mine was doing exceptionally well in his restaurant during the last recession until someone told him that there was a recession on. His overcaution and worry about this bad news caused him to lose his business.
He suffered from debilitating depression, but decided to start again and get rid of all negativity in his life, including never listening to the news again. He now owns several restaurants, and 13 years later, one day out of curiosity decided to listen to the news.
It was the exact same news that he had heard 13 years ago, Arabs and Jews were still sending their grandsons to kill each other, crime was still happening and politicians were still undermining each other. He switched the radio off and has not heard the bad news since.
On the other hand, you and I DO trust humanity a lot. Think about this every time we drive, we are trusting the thousands of other motorists we see to stay on their side of the road. And guess what? We can actually trust the overwhelming majority of them to do so.
How do I know these things? I have the same struggle as you.
Blessings, Grant. 4:8 For the rest, my brothers, whatever things are true, whatever things have honour, whatever things are upright, whatever things are holy, whatever things are beautiful, whatever things are of value, if there is any virtue and if there is any praise, give thought to these things.

Hey Jeff... nobody said you had to have faith in humanity. Faith in God, yes! Faith in people, no. Love people, yes! Faith in them, no. Psalm 14:2,3 2 The LORD looks down from heaven on the sons of men to see if there are any who understand, any who seek God. 3 All have turned aside, they have together become corrupt; there is no one who does good, not even one. |

| Well, Jeff I cant say I always liked the people of the world either. I remember being so angry with how humanity can be, then I saw I was being just like that myself. so I always try to remember God made us all and he makes good things so if humanity gets me down I try to see deep inside of individuals to the heart God gave us all. O.K. sometimes it doesn't work so sue me. |
