| Opening up. |

As some one who's been around the rooms of quite a few anonymous fellowships for some time I thought I was fairly open but I'm finding that disclosing a little bit about myself to get some one else to open up isn't the same as opening up myself.
Well learning to be open at Church looks to be a challenge.
Blessings,

| Yes, sometimes we have to be pryed open Dave. But are we opening up for us, or for the benefit of others? That is the question.... |

| Well, I myself tend to share my stuff too freely and consequently can scare people off. But I do get frustrated when people don't want to share anything real--like in church. I'm in a 12-step Christian recovery group for women. Only five to seven people have been coming--and there's like 800--900 people in this congregation. When will people start admitting they have issues and need help? |

I am one of those people who don't open up easily. My husband says "She was one tough nut to crack open, but worth it." I grew up in a home where feelings, emotions and "weakness" was not shared. Therefore I grew up thinking that being open and letting feelings out was being weak. I realize that is not the case, but old habit die hard.
I have been doing a lot of opening up lately and at times it's scary and other times easy. The reason we share and open our life is the issue. Many people do this to get attention, others want sympathy. Anyway...as I follow Jesus more and allow Him the freedom as my friend says "shine the light in the dark areas" I am becoming more free to share.
Thanks so much for being here Dave, I enjoy reading your blogs. Be blessed. |
