Hi Shannon,
By all means tell them the truth and encourage them to seek God.

Blenda, I will ofcourse tell the truth, but I am not looking for a debate either. I have no extreme knowledge of their beliefs & do not want to spend a lot of timing studying it either. It is like, trying to witness to a Jehovas Witness Or Mormon. I just don't want to push the person away, but I can't lie. I really hate confrontation. Can you tell?? LOL!

There is so much garbage out on the web...and the worst thing is when someone who isn't soundly grounded in scripture lets it seep into what they 'believe'.

I grew up Catholic, and I have seen it firsthand - let me explain:

So many of the things that catholics hang on to about their faith (and not all of them, mind you) are the trappings and things made by man.  And when they see the error of those beliefs, it's belief in Christ's healing power that suffers - they throw the baby out with the bathwater, for lack of a better term.  I've seen it:  when you're more worried about whether or not you're eating meat on Friday over reading the Bible, or thinking that saying 10 hail marys wipes away a sin instead of putting on the Lord and accepting the grace offered, that's what happens.

Sad thing is, people that read this kinda stuff are searching, and aren't equipped.  Though, it maybe makes 'sense to them' and 'feels right' for whatever reason.

They're dying of thirst and gulping down saltwater.

Now, they might think they found their answers and then the devil's got 'em.  But they mayl not find their answers with that stuff, and the devil has his way 'cuz then they will say 'all beliefs are bogus' and go the atheist route, like so many I grew up with.
Good post, I'm going to pray for your friend that God equips you or someone else to reach him.

This link might be a springboard for you:

THANKS GROWING IN FAITH. I FEEL WELL ABLE TO DEBATE AGAINST RELIGIOUS SPIRITS, BUT THESE PAGANISTIC RELIGIONS ARE HARD FOR ME. I APPRECIATE THE LINK. MAYBE SOMETHING IN THERE WILL HELP. A LITTLE FYI~ MY HUSBAND AND I LEAD THESE PEOPLE I SPEAK OF OUT OF AGNOSTIC BELIEVES ABOUT A YEAR AGO. WE SAW THEM GET PLANTED IN A PENTECOSTAL CHURCH, SO WE HAD HOPED ALL WAS WELL.

Maybe you should recommend they speak with their Pastor about the issue. He is after all responsible for the spiritual guidance and this would remove you from the situation.

I haven't heard of it but it sounds like something I'd better find out about before a few people start sending me links.

just don't know what to say of the alien thingy except Larry believes in aliens...we just don't talk about it because there's no reasoning with him on the matter.....God be with you and give you the words to say when they come back......

I like the idea of referring them to their Pastor. I can share my concern, and leave it in the hands of their covering. How simple & wise Blenda! Gee, thanks. I was trying to take on responsibility that is not mine. I am responsible to speak the truth, but not counsel perhaps. :) I feel better. Thanks!

I did some digging into it.  Seems the concept is a bit of Nostradamus, some Mayan calendar, a bit of Revelation and a large sprinkling of foo-foo.

I have my calendar marked for Feb 6, 2012 when the big asteroid will hit in the Atlantic.  I'm going to get a front row seat!  (The wave should wash all the way to St Louis if it's 600 feet high!)

People always like to know what's going to happen next.  I think we could fix world aggression and we'd still have people anxious about tomorrow.  Unfortunately, there are Christians who are so mystified and titillated with the whole Revelation thing that they will look to anything to see the Second Coming and the Final Judgement.  It's much more important how we are living today and what we are doing in relationships with our brethren and the unsaved than to be focused on "upcoming attractions."

Thanks for taking time to look into this. I do remember the Nostradamus guy being mentioned, now that you mention it.

I guess I'm a little more sensitive to this kinda garbage (no use mincing words here) because besides seeing friends that were searching (as I was) and looking elsewhere to this sort of pseudo-science, pseudo-religious stuff bothers me.  My father liked to read about the paranormal stuff, Nostradamus, and aliens and gods and stuff, and as a kid, a lot of that polluted my mind to the point (for a while) I couldn't see what was truth and what wasn't.

Bottom line is you have to be firmly planted in the Word - no commentaries, works of man, or theories will ever supercede the WORD OF THE LORD!

Praying for you, friends.

Col 1:21 And you, that were sometime alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now hath he reconciled

Seems as if some people have been alienated by the Aliens.

Hummmmmmmmmm.     This is adding Humor  so please don't quote me on it latter.
