| My thought for the day |

2:15 We ourselves, who are Jews by birth and not Gentile sinners, 2:16 yet who know that a man is not justified by works of the law but through faith in Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Christ Jesus, in order to be justified by faith in Christ, and not by works of the law, because by works of the law shall no one be justified. I came across this bit of scripture this afternoon, and was surprised that I have never paid more attention to this. It is amazing that not only once or twice, but three times Paul points out that man is justified by faith in Jesus Christ and not by works of the law. I guess that even from the begining there were those that, like I once did, wanted to make the path to salvation harder than it needed to be. In fact as I scanned through Galatians today, I consistantly heard the echoes of The Ragamuffin Gospel in my ears (of course, it is more likely it is the echo of Paul's letter). My short journey today into Galatians has inspired me to finish what I started, and find a more in depth study or two on it. Again I am surprised how it seems God is guiding me into a deeper relationship with Him. What started as my quest to understand the historical facts around the life of Christ has turned into an adventure that I cannot properly put into words. All I can advise others is to truly search with an open heart and mind, and let God guide you. |
