I think you're right when you say, "we're coming out of a long, dark night where we thought 'church' was a place you went, not something you did - and maybe even something that you were."

We are indeed the church, the building is  just the place where we gather.  Throughout the years, we have grown lazy in an age where  the staff and pastors took care of church business. Now we're moving into an age where the church is led more and more by the laity. Maybe this is because we are finally finding what is Holy inside us. We are finding Jesus in us and recognizing that we don't have to be ordained to do His work.

I keep thinking of  the lyrics to a Michael Jackson song:

        We are the world
        We are the children

If we change those words, just a bit:

       We are the church
       We are God's children

I would add a prayer concern for my family as we search for a house for my parents. We are moving them from Arkansas to Missouri where one of my brothers and my sister live.

Blessings,

Melinda
