If any of you were there this past wendsday ( April the 9 ) ( the middle school bible study ) Dana talked about the christian life and how it is like a race. (verses Hebrews 12:1-4) 12:1 For this reason, as we are circled by so great a cloud of witnesses, putting off every weight, and the sin into which we come so readily, let us keep on running in the way which is marked out for us, 12:2 Having our eyes fixed on Jesus, the guide and end of our faith, who went through the pains of the cross, not caring for the shame, because of the joy which was before him, and who has now taken his place at the right hand of God's seat of power. 12:3 Give thought to him who has undergone so much of the hate of sinners against himself, so that you may not be tired and feeble of purpose. 12:4 Till now you have not given your blood in your fight against sin: He (dana)said one time that a company that he used to work for wanted him to be in this big corporate race thing and they begged him Cuz if they didnt get one more gey they couldnt even enter in the rac. So he said he would. He said he was really excited and and he went and got some really nice Nikys and he ran two miles a couple of times and was really excited and then when he got to the race he got there early And was really excited. When the race started he was ahead of everybody. He looked back and thought YA!!! I can when this race!!! then after 2 miles he started to slow down then people started passing him, and then some more, and then some more. pretty soon some people going slow passed him and some kids and then even like Grandparents!!! He said he walked about another mile and the rest of the way he was just dying to even finish. (he said he's pretty suer he came in last) But he said the reason is cuz he didnt Pre-Pare for the race. and that thats how it can be in the race of life. Are you a Walker? a sprinter? a jogger? or a Runner? walkers just sorta go with the flow. sprinters just start off fast and once as it starts getting hard give up. a jogger is trying bust isnt really doing all that they should be doing, and a runner is focused on God and doesnt give up. Relating to your spiritaul life you are the contestent and you are running on the path of life. You arent competing against other believers but satan. He will try to get you off the path and push you down or give up. Dana asked us a question whats the differnce between a person that is serious about this race or not? who is devoted to giving it all they got and who's not? and how do you tell the differnce? the answer that we gave was sombody thats not serious is the person that is just off doing what everybody else is doing they might go to church but they arent using it to help them in their lives. a christian that is dedicated to finishing and is serious is one who is in Gods word appling it to their lives not just thinking about them selves but who they can help other people how they can encourage others strenthen others. And is always focused on God. They let God change them, they let him be in control and whatever he says goes. The only thing that can keep you from not being on the track going forward is not having faith. ( Dana said like all you need to start going is faith and so not having faith can stop you from going ) Keep digging into Gods word, And growing closer to him.
