Brian is my "Worthy Geek" - True -WG is a term made up by my friend JamesAD62, who was always asking if I ever met a "worthy geek," I was supposed to introduce him to James for possible employment. I feel that WG is a great and honorable title for someone who is in the "Bryce Lynch" category of computer wizards!
Our "minion's" names - Jonathan and Timothy (and PJ my curious cat... Max, the tailless Manx mostly napped.)
The monster was conceived as a killer video editing machine (used a lot for my church), hence all the talk about "bending time." Videos need memory and processing speed to render transitions (like a fade from one scene to another) as quickly as possible.
The references to "World Domination" were just for fun... (or were they? MUAHAHAHA)
We actually did spill Mountain Dew into the Video Card...
exactly as described, except that the part was not plugged in at the time! My reactions and Brian's were only a wee bit less dramatic then the story describes! One corner of the case actually did stuck to the table as the Mountain Dew had dried under one rubber foot.
Mountain Dew had actually puddled inside the card's fan shrouding and on the board. The "minions" dried the video card out with a Clown Balloon pump --I had no compressed air, unfortunately. I thought I had taken a picture of them doing that but apparently not. It would have made a good souvenir of the tragedy!
The late (we were up all night) night "flexible data device" transfusion was a floppy disk install of a driver, (in this day and age! Unbelievable!) needed because of some convention required by the Vista install. (No thumb-drives allowed!) This required a disassembly of my old Dell computer (which by the way cost $1500 more than this ENTIRE computer cost, with all it's CAPABILITIES. The Dell was just a good strong medium priced desktop machine. It was a 1.5 GHZ Intel 3, with 512 MB of RAM! And it came with Windows ME (shudder) installed!
Thank-you Brian! Yes, ladies and gentlemen, he is the WG... I made the changes to the blog. Thanks again for your help, O wise one!... give me a call, I have some thoughts!
