Scripture Text: Genesis 26:13-22 13 And the man became great and gained more and more until he became very wealthy and distinguished; 14 He owned flocks, herds, and a great supply of servants, and the Philistines envied him. 15 Now all the wells which his father's servants had dug in the days of Abraham his father, the Philistines had closed and filled with earth. 16 And Abimelech said to Isaac, Go away from us, for you are much mightier than we are. 17 So Isaac went away from there and pitched his tent in the Valley of Gerar, and dwelt there. 18 And Isaac dug again the wells of water which had been dug in the days of Abraham his father, for the Philistines had stopped them after the death of Abraham; and he gave them the names by which his father had called them. 19 Now Isaac's servants dug in the valley and found there a well of living {spring water}. 20 And the herdsman of Gerar quarreled with Isaac; herdsmen, saying, The water is ours. And he named the well Esek {contention} because they quarreled with him. 21 Then {his servants} dug another well, and they quarrled over that also; so he named it Sitnah {enmity}. 22 And he moved away from there and dug another well, and for that one they did not quarrel. He named it Rehoboth {room}, saying, For now the Lord has made room for us, and we shall be fruitful in the land.
The scripture text listed above addresses an issue that many have or will face at some point in their life. You've worked very hard to achieve something and then one day, you watched it slip through your fingers. Of course, bad management and poor planning can cause this to occur. This text is not talking about that....
However, in this text, the servants dug as assigned and yet had to deal with opposition. The part that captured my attention first was the fact that they continued to dig! Many times we are overwhelmed with the cares of this life and sometimes make the decision to throw in the towel. We tell ourselves, God didn't intend for me to have this or maybe He wasn't speaking directly to me. I didn't hear him clearly. Cancel all of that negative thinking. Understand that it is coming. In other words:
Right idea...Wrong location.... Right idea....Wrong people.... Right idea....Wrong timing... Perhaps this isn't your case at all; You didn't press hard enough or stand in the midst of the storm long enough to see His salvation. Always remember to continue holding on no matter what.
The next thing I noticed, they had to keep moving. Remember dear hearts there are times when the door has been closed in our life and it is time to move on! Stop trying to beat a dead horse. We waste time trying to resurrect friendships, jobs, etc...The very thing God has already delivered and declared us free from but yet we try to hold on. Know when it's time to let go!
The last thing I will mention about this scripture is that the storm doesn't last always! Praise God! While we were in the storm He built us up and at the end He will bring us out! Always remember God is the one with the stop watch! When He says it's over, we can bank on it. He will allow you to build wells for others for a while and then He steps in and says this one belongs to you!
It is Time for Rehoboth....Some of you have continued to be faithful in Esther's Castle but unlike the other women who remained, God is opening the doors for your own.
This does not exclude or do away with mentoring or spiritual parenting .... I do both and they are very important and necessary!
However, there some who have had to struggle with or for everything....Again this is your season of Rehoboth!
Rehoboth! Thank you Lord! Just when you thought it was over.... You were prepared to throw in the towel....God brings you to your place of Rehoboth! He makes room for you! Praise the Lord....Go ahead and shout right there! When others quarrled with you.... All kinds of drama going on....
God was getting your room ready!
Be blessed and stay focused! |
