Trying to take a breath.

So I'm debating with some people about the views of a certain politician who shall remain nameless.  This politician isn't even in my registered party.  So I really don't have any reason to be defending the guy.  But it really comes down to the principal of the argument. 

You know, it's amazing to me really how polarized our political discourse has become.  People can't even have a reasoned discussion about basic facts without bringing personal attacks into the fray....it's sad really.

I'm all for calling a spade, a spade.  Really, I am.  But let's not let people make up stuff about those in or running for political office.  Let's not get caught up in rumor or gossip.  As Christians, we have a higher calling than that.  We really should not be involved in some of the finger pointing and name calling.  It's not how we're to act.

Ok.  Stepping off my soap box now.  I feel better.

Ahh, politics and "Religion." As Christians we render unto Caeser what is Caeser's (taxes) and we pray for our leaders so that "it will go well with us." Personal attacks are worthless!

Unfortunately as human beings we can only learn from background, previous decisions and events that have had a part in shaping the politician in question. From those we form opinions in order to vote. Still, mudslinging as such is useless.

Good point. People do that with preachers too.
Sad on both accounts, worse for the preacher.
If he is involved in scandal, he is done. If the politician is involved in scandal, his name is more recognized.
