| The Names of God |

Do you know the names of God? We call Him God, but that in my opinion is so generic. God wants us to relate to Him personally. When we call Him by name He relates to us in the way we seek Him. For instance do you need a healing? He has a name for that. Do you need protection? He has a name for that. Do you need guidance He has a name for that. Do you need provision? He has a name for that. Do you get my point? Call on Him and use His name. When some one calls me by certain names it tells me how to relate to them. At work if someone calls me Mr. Erskine they want to be professional and courteous and I return the favor. When some one calls me Todd I can relate to them as a personal friend. If someone calls me Toddie, then I relate to them as family. If someone calls me Brother Todd, then I wear my minister's hat. If someone calls me Buddy..I big red flag goes up..they must want something. It is the same with our Heavenly Father. He has revealed to us on how to relate to Him. Use them in your prayer life and watch what happens.

The Lord is my source, my sufficency, my provider.

The Lord is my health, He is my healing. He is my physician.
Jehovah-Nissi (nis-see') Exodus 17:15
The Lord is my flag, He is my banner, He is my victory!
Jehovah-M'Qadash (kaw-dash') Leviticus 20:7-8
The Lord is my light, He is my holiness, He is my sanctity.
Jehovah-Shalom (shaw-lome') Judges 6:24
The Lord is my peace. He is my comfort, He is my security.
Jehovah-Rohi (row-he) Psalm 23:1
The Lord is my guide, He is my shepherd, He is my protector.
Jehovah-Tsidqenuq (tsid-kay-noo) Jeremiah 23:6
The Lord is my life, my redemption, He is my righteousness.
Jehovah-Shammah (Shawm'-maw) Ezekiel 48:35
The Lord is my friend, He is my faithfulness. He is omnipresent. Always with me.
Jehovah-Sabaoth (sab-ah-owth) or the Lord of hosts I Samuel 1:3
The Lord is my rock, He is my fortress, He is my deliever.
When you call upon the Lord address Him in the way you need Him. If you need forgiveness call upon Jehovah-Tsidqenuw. If you need peace and comfort call upon Jehovah-Shalom. If you need a friend call upon Jehovah-Shammah. If you need protection call upon Jehovah-Sabaoth.

| Kay Arthur has a book called, "Lord, I Want To Know You" It is a devotional study on the names of God. Totally incredible book. I highly recommend it. Thanks for posting this Brother Todd! |

Valerie: I am very familar with Kay Arthur. I haven't seen that book, but I have read a few of hers and used to hear her daily teaching on the radio.
Jimmy: That is German! Everyone congratulate Jimmy for he just landed a great job with Thyssen Krump a German Steel Company. Jimmy has worked very hard for this and I want everyone to know that the Blessings are from the Lord and He adds no sorrow with it.

| You know, the LORD knows each of us individually, and has us written in the book of life BY NAME (don't you think?)... So I for one am thrilled to be able to start going beyond the generic "God" or "Lord", even though Jeremiah prays "O great and powerful God, who's name is the Lord Almighty" (NIV), or "the Great, the Mighty God, the LORD of hosts, is his name" (KJV). |

Mike: A good name is better than great riches. There is much importance in a name, and Jehovah loves it when we use His. Admidtedly it is a little awkward for us Gentiles, but I know He loves the attempt. |
