3:1 To every [thing there is] a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:
Spring is in the air. The calender announced Spring in March, yet the weather is STRUGGLING to manifest it's presence consistently. If you live in the DC metro area...you know EXACTLY what I'm talking about...just this past Friday and Saturday the temperature was at or above 80 and sunny then on Sunday we could barely get 55 and it drizzled along with being windy.
Lately, God has been impressing upon me to pay attention to the details. You know...the small stuff that makes a big difference. The right shoe can make an outfit sing, while bad foundation garments (slip too long, bra too small....the need for a girdle) can ruin the same outfit. I said all of this to say the same we we as women take the time to plan out our outfit--shoes, garment, accessories, handbag, hair, makeup (all according to what the weatherman says mother nature will be displayin for the day). I love high-heeled tall boots...especially since they have FINALLY begun to make the cute ones with large enough calves for me to fit them! and because the current weather pattern is so unstable...I can still wear my boots. I've broken out a peep-toe pump occasionally....but definitely not the full sandal...ladies....it's not time yet!
At any rate, I digress, back to the details.
Over the past week or so, the Holy Spirit has pointed out to me several birds that I've seen flying. Nothing I would normally pay attention to, except that most of these birds--large and small birds--were all carrying branches. See, the animal and plant kingdom are the only creation of God's that does exactly what they were created to do...Obediently....the first time. Not a lot of do overs with them. The female birds begin to collect tree limbs and twigs that the winter cold and wind knocked to the ground from their parenting trees.
See, in the early spring it's time for them to begin nesting...they have to build the nest for them to lay their eggs...NEW LIFE IS COMING! By this same token we need to prepare for the changing seasons in our lives. Spring is coming. Spring in nature represents newness and renewal. This is the time that the seeds planted in the fall begin to peek through the ground...into the visible world. This is the time when the results of all that you went through in your fall and winter seasons begin to manifest. You begin to show forth the lessons learned through the winter season...and the glory of God and the reward of your longsuffering is about to make headlines.
How are you preparing? Have you begun to prepare your wardrobe for this next season? Have you shed old attitudes, and indifferent dispositions from the year before. Is your representation of Jesus Christ better this year than it was last year? Has your circle of friends changed, or are you still trying to drag baggage (unnecessary friends, or associates who drain you physically, financially, spiritually, emotionall and mentally)? Have you begun to build your nest? Are you building your nest with humility, reverence, love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, meekness, faith, self-control...all those things you will need when the heat of summer turns up and the fall begins to show signs of rest and winter brings along the illusion of death?
Are you ready?
