| I Am Glad I Didn't Walk With Jesus |
|
| |
I Am Glad I Didn't......
Well, Sort of....
Of course I am speaking here about walking with him in the natural, walking with Him in the flesh. In other words, walking with Him during His earthly ministry.
Walking with Jesus would have been an incredible experience. Watching Jesus perform miracles. Watching Him teach the multitudes. Watching Him spread love and rebuke religion. That would have been amazing. Just being in his presence on a daily basis would have been unforgettable. But would it have been better than what we have available in Jesus today? Would it have been better than walking with him in the Spirit?
Think about it. The disciples had to deal with Jesus in his flesh. They saw him get hungry. They saw him sweat. They saw him get tired. They saw him sleep. They saw him use the bathroom. They had to see the human side of Jesus. I can imagine that Jesus even stunk. I know that sounds bad but they didn't have Motel 6's back then. No one was leaving the light on for Him. As much as they traveled in the heat with no change of clothes and no place to bath, I can imagine you could smell Jesus coming a mile away. I believe it is for some of these exact reasons that some, if not all of them, had to deal with periods of unbelief.
But we have an even greater means of knowing Jesus. We can develop even greater levels of belief. We have the Written Word to study and meditate on. We have the privilege of learning from others who have gone before us. The prophets of old longed to have the ability to see and hear the things we can see and hear today.
For verily I say unto you, That many prophets and righteous men have desired to see those things which ye see, and have not seen them; and to hear those things which ye hear, and have not heard them. Not only do we have the privilege of the written Word and the knowledge of those that have gone before us, but we have an even greater gift from whom we gain understanding. The Holy Spirit of God! Jesus in fact said that it would be to our advantage if he leaves.
But now I go my way to him that sent me; and none of you asketh me, Whither goest thou? But because I have said these things unto you, sorrow hath filled your heart. Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you. What a great gift it is to have the spirit of God available to each of us, and within each of us who believe. To teach us and guide us. To reveal things of the future and give us understanding of things of the past. Yes, walking with the physical Jesus would have been just awesome, but what we have, because he went away, is even greater!
But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you. We are to walk by faith and not by sight. Blessed is he that has not seen, yet still believes! I have often thought how great it would be to hear an audible voice from God. But now that I think about it, it just might ruin me. For if God spoke to me today, and then tomorrow silence, I would be devastated. I would be wondering what in the world I did to cause Him to leave. I would be spending the rest of my natural life trying to perform just to get God to speak to me one more time! But he speaks to me every day right now, he speaks through His Word.
For we walk by faith, not by sight!
Jesus saith unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed.
Thank you Jesus for revealing yourself to us in your Word and by the power of your Spirit. It's great walking with you!
What a man! What a plan! What a God!

| AMEN! There will come a day when people will be asking me what it was like to live in the end times. We are blessed to be able to say we live in todays world with the Holy Spirit for a Guide and a constant connection with our Heavenly Father. Great word! Thanks! |
|
|
| We do indeed have a better convenant! |

LaTonya:
Your comment was fantastic. I also believe that saints that have gone before us are going to ask us many, many questions and make comments about the way we handled situations, prayed for others, grew in our knowledge of God. It's going to be a wonderful experience, forever!
David: Yes, indeed it is a better covenant. And we have even greater revelation and abilities to gain knowledge of that covenant than some of those that have gone before us. What a gift! |

Blessed is he that has not seen, and yet still believes! I love this, I cling to this! In my boring unspectacular life, when everything seems normal and average, I cling to the fact that this average existence is ruled by a very spectacular, un-average God! I don't see with my eyes, and I don't NEED to see with my eyes. That's the essence if "I believe"!!
Another great read Michael. Thanks so much for writing these! |
|
|
Bless your heart Mike. That was a great encouragement for me my brother!
You know what helps me deal with my "boring unspectacular life, when everything seems normal and average"?
Knowing that I am no longer "only" human. That my spirit contains the same spirit that raised Christ Jesus from the dead!
The way I see it, we are now only 2/3 human. The other 1/3 of us is wall-to-wall Holy Ghost!
That's enough to make a corps shout!
Hallelujah! |
|
|
Amen Michael!
And for the time you spend writing for us, you deserve the encouragement bro! Your blogs aren't free, after all. The cost of admission is one of these.... And it's well worth it, a bargain in fact!!! lol

When I think on this..my heads starts to over load! So amazing and do GOD'S people, fully understand this, in it fullness? The power of GOD, visited me one night and he didn't even bother to wake me up! :) AMEN, Right back at ya!
Sometimes when I speak of these things people look at me like I'm dreaming......well....if this is a dream don't wake me up because it';s working!

| You are pointing out the human side of Jesus, body odor and all (and no deoderant!) I cannot imagine being in His presence in the flesh! What an experience that would have been, and will be when we get to heaven. Still, I prefer to be in the here and now, and not back when He was actually walking the earth as a man. We have much more insight now, than they did then, because we have the bible. Sure, there are still a lot of unanswered questions, but we will get those answered someday. For now though, I am glad to be where I am right now, able to enjoy Jesus and the Holy Spirit...and fresh air :) |

Didn't see any Michael tracks? Me confused!
Congrats on the Grandson. I bet he's a trip!
Coming to check out your link.....Should I leave a Michael Track there? |

" able to enjoy Jesus and the Holy Spirit...and fresh air :)"
Amen Deb! |

I coulnd't agree more. I am sure it was difficult to not get a familiar spirit with Jesus. Peter got too comfortable with Jesus, and rebuked Jesus. Wake up call! I see this happening with Pastors and sheep all the time. This is a good thing to not be to close in the flesh with anyone. Good points and good blog Michael! |

Duh.....Michael tracks.......NOW I get it!
I did read it today though, and left a comment. I amazed with what you have been through Marcella, and the fact that you have overcome. That's awesome! |

Micheal....nice post. I agree it is much easier to walk with Jesus not "looking to his flesh"
I enjoy His Spiritual Realm much more than His Flesh realm. His body of Flesh is hard to get passed but it is possible by the Help of His Spirit.
His Flesh is still active and expressed in each of Us. With the Help of His Spirit we can Live at peace as we move about in His Flesh yet living and expressed in each of us Now. Jesus did say that He is the "ME" of the flesh Now. (Matt.25:40)
And Jesus still has some offensive smells and a few front teeth missing, he equally has his very attractive looks too. But I am getting more experience in looking past all that without respect to the image. His Spirit is still teaching Us, if we but can learn to listen and get past all that flesh..
Peace...... |

Hi KW,
"Jesus did say that He is the "ME" of the flesh Now" That's a very interesting point.
In John 15:4 He says "Remain in Me and I will remain in You"
I have been meditating on that statement for a while now. Remain in Him. Now, when I think of this, I envision being literally within Him. Inside Him. Like His body surrounds me. Like I cannot do anything without operating through Him. Like the words I speak have to be filtered through His body. Like every thought is not only in me, it is in Him. I am engulfed by Him. And therefore, He is in Me.
I get completely caught up in the spirit when I think on these things!
That's awesome! |

Yes and if we are not careful ..we will persecute him daily in the way we treat him.
Saul saul...why persecutest thou ME.
Our Action are all toward Jesus Christ .......and I assure you he will appear toward us all in a image we did not expect. (attractive and not so attractive , intelligent and not so intelligent, educated and not so educated, rich and not as rich...and this might hurt a bit...believer and unbeliever......false and not as false in words ouch........respect not one above the other. For all flesh is his expression....respect does not mean accept all of what is expressed)
Peace |

God spoke to my best friend once in an audible voice; it threw her off at first, but she's been a Christian all her life. I thought of the humanity of Jesus too, before, and my husband cringes when I say that Jesus likely used to pass gas and the such. It's our culture. And their culture "stunk". It's not being irreverant; it's being factual. OK, so the whole point of your blog, I can only say "Amen." |

| It's great to hear from you LARA......we have missed you! |
