Good morning, today we are going on another treasure hunt as we are lead through more nuggets of wisdom in Chapter 10. Lets open in prayer please,
Prayer: Father, as we grow in these studies we are amazed by what you have done for us. Thank you simply for Jesus dying on the cross for me so that when life hits I have that assurance that you are there no matter what rages. Open my ears Lord, I want to hear Jesus. Open my eyes Lord, I want to see Jesus. Open my heart Lord, I want to learn and obey You. We praise you and give you the glory and honor for what You are doing Father. In Jesus name, Amen.
As we went through nuggets a couple of days ago, lets break down these verses as well...
10:1 Dead flies cause the oil of the perfumer to send forth an evil odor; `so' doth a little folly outweigh wisdom and honor.
Verse one holds alot of power in that statement. One knows what it is like to be paired up with a fool. Being foolish is not a spirit that parallels The Fruit of the Spirit as we was reminded of yesterday. This is like being the accomplish to a murder...you didn't actually pull the trigger but your hanging around the 'finger' guy. Love everyone; however use wisdom in what you do and say with others. Just as human nature people pair people up in their reputation by who they hang out with. This does not mean to be judgemental. 'Do not judge a book by its cover' is a perfect phrase that cannot be out used! Simply use wisdom in your choices.
10:2 A wise man's heart is at his right hand; but a fool's heart at his left. 10:3 Yea also, when the fool walketh by the way, his understanding faileth him, and he saith to every one `that' he is a fool.
In James it talks about a double-minded man is unstable in all his ways. So this is true of a fool. Not even he knows what all he has stirred up by the ramification of his actions or lies. Sometimes even when a fool speaks truth, it is not done in love and can still cause injury. None of us are complete or perfect and we are all growing; however when we have heard the truth we are held accountable for our actions at that point. May we not be foolish in what we say and do...others can see that in our life.
10:4 If the spirit of the ruler rise up against thee, leave not thy place; for gentleness allayeth great offences. 10:5 There is an evil which I have seen under the sun, as it were an error which proceedeth from the ruler: 10:6 folly is set in great dignity, and the rich sit in a low place. 10:7 I have seen servants upon horses, and princes walking like servants upon the earth.
Okay! Now its time for a game of Truth or Dare! haha How many of us have been in this spot with our employment! Wow, to work in this world when your a Christian. Others are watching us though. They see we profess to be Christians and then how we act shows that Fruit to them. May we only glorify God and not have to repent of a action later. If a action has happened, there is no condemnation in Christ, it will say volumes to the people you work with if you take the appropriate action needed to rectify a situation.
10:8 He that diggeth a pit shall fall into it; and whoso breaketh through a wall, a serpent shall bite him. 10:9 Whoso heweth out stones shall be hurt therewith; `and' he that cleaveth wood is endangered thereby.
These verses bring us back full circle to day one's study, chapter one. If you completed the self-examination with the Holy Spirit and gave what you could to God maybe in the nugget prayer style that was mentioned, then do not bring that baggage back up. It is under the blood of Jesus and throwed into the bottom of the deepest sea, a promise from God. Some people messaged and could not complete that process in some areas of their life right then....seek God and see if now is His timing on you trying to release that to Him. if you have to return to the beginning of this study, big deal! I would rather someone obey God and be set free than to follow some 'rules' that are not orchestrated by God. Structure is important; however your freedom is more important in God's eyes! Do what you need to do...go back! That reminds me of our next verse:
10:10 If the iron be blunt, and one do not whet the edge, then must he put to more strength: but wisdom is profitable to direct.
Use wisdom in your choices...In Psalms it says God will guide your path and make you as sure-footed as a deer. Seeking His wisdom and going back does not mean you are not sure-footed, it means you are wise and seeking council where God wants you to....who of us can throw the first stone in there? We have all been there!
10:11 If the serpent bite before it is charmed, then is there no advantage in the charmer. 10:12 The words of a wise man's mouth are gracious; but the lips of a fool will swallow up himself. 10:13 The beginning of the words of his mouth is foolishness; and the end of his talk is mischievous madness. 10:14 A fool also multiplieth words: `yet' man knoweth not what shall be; and that which shall be after him, who can tell him? 10:15 The labor of fools wearieth every one of them; for he knoweth not how to go to the city. 10:16 Woe to thee, O land, when thy king is a child, and thy princes eat in the morning! 10:17 Happy art thou, O land, when thy king is the son of nobles, and thy princes eat in due season, for strength, and not for drunkenness! 10:18 By slothfulness the roof sinketh in; and through idleness of the hands the house leaketh.
These last verses 11-18 are dear to my heart. When one comes from abuse again you learn ways that do not glorify God. You have seen the deception from an abuser. One can look at the past and it gives a mirror image to this dark force of slothfulness. Many women are diagnosed as being co-dependant for helping or staying with an abuser. If you are in a abusive relationship or with an addict that is not getting help and being successful in a plan of action with accountability, then you need to consider and parallel the walk you are on vs. these verses listed. If you or your children are in danger then yes you need to leave and find safety...you can be just as accountable for the situation and staying it in. This is not a mean statement, but trying to help someone who does not truly help themselves is not any help at all. That is enabiling that person while they deceptively use you. I am making strong statements here and I stand by these statements....I know this road, I was co-dependant in a relationship without knowing it. As God promises, the truth will set you free! However a belief is in the world that you will be forever co-dependant...that is not true. God's word liberates one. I would not return to a abusive situation. One must use wisdom if they were in a bad spot or not, you choose. Once free from that deceptive situation, personally I saw the lies after it was over. I am not co-dependant and have not returned to an abuser...that is a lie from satan that all women do that...many many women walk away from the trick that was played on them and live life just like everyone else. You can not always see a lie...that is why it is called deception. It does not matter if it was a man or woman lied to...all of us fall in this category when dealing with a deception. deception is the opposite of truth and therefore, the opposite of what God wants for your life. Yes, it is opposite of God and His ways! Walk in your freedom in Christ...it is already there waiting for you...follow God's truths in His Word! Just like with a bad business deal...you don't always know...this just happens to apply to relationships also.
10:19 A feast is made for laughter, and wine maketh glad the life; and money answereth all things. 10:20 Revile not the king, no, not in thy thought; and revile not the rich in thy bedchamber: for a bird of the heavens shall carry the voice, and that which hath wings shall tell the matter.
I wonder when the teacher wrote this if he had been drinking....okay, all kidding aside, you can tell he is still in a state of despair in his findings of the world. Are you still there too? I encourage you to consider going back and making your way sure-footed with the teachings God has given in this study. Take time for you. Yes, make time for you, you are important. Obedience is the key...seek God in what He wants you to do.
Prayer: Father, you are so good to us. Thank you for pouring out your nuggets of truth into our world. May we walk according to the truth you have given me through the blood of Jesus being on my life and daily choices. When I do not get it the way you were thinking, thank you for your grace, love and mercy that is always present. You are Holy, Pure, Righteous, Loving, Honest, Peaceful, Joyful, and Truth. Even in what we in this world would consider as correction you are gracious, thank you. Thank you that your correction is not the mean correction that some of us have lived under....your correction is from love and is given and handled only in love...without a mean form. Just as a parent gently speaks life into their child through correction...you do the same to us. We love you Lord!
As mentioned I will post the remaining study today before we take apart my computer....I am moving today. Much love and may God bless you in this time with Him!
Hey lady! So glad this has blessed you! In your above comment the verse is referenced to Solomon which is the same Solomon as the writer of Ecclesiastes. Feel free to print this and use it! To God be the Glory!
v. 1 tells me to guard my heart, my speech, and even my conduct because even a seemingly small foolish act can taint your good reputation. That can be hard to recover from. This is a great lesson, and it spoke volumes to me today! I now know why I waited to read this one. Thanks Cheryl. (Counting down)
