| The Oldest Profession |
|
| |
No, It's not what you think it is.
Think. We make jokes about tat the oldest profession is. The common line is that it's prostitution. Others joke and say that its got to be politics - the devil and God openly debated and the devil used all sorts of tricks to get his way and make you believe it was for your own good. "Who do you supposed created the chaos in the first place?" lol
No, that's not really it. Discounting the actions of God in creation since God is omnipotent and can easily represent all aspects of whatever profession you choose, we need to look at the people and see what it is. The Bible tells us in Genesis 2:15
"The LORD God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to work it and take care of it."
The oldest profession is gardening. God told the man to tend the garden - to work it and take care of it. When did we stop thinking that way?
This year we have seen the earnest efforts by people all over the globe to try to do something about global warming. We can debate whether or not we humans are responsible for it or not. That isn't the point here. It's happening and the gardener is not doing anything about it. Whether or not the gardener is responsible for accidentally bringing weeds in the garden, he is responsible for removing those weeds.
We are all descendants of the gardener. It is our heritage to do this task of working the soil and tending the garden.
On the 22nd of April it is Earth Day. It is the day we set aside to think about the Garden and what is left of it - and to contemplate our place in assuming the responsibility to work it and take care or it. The official web site for more information is http://www.earthday.net/earthday2008.aspx
Whether you choose to take part in any official activity or not, please join me in prayer for the planet and its well being. After all, it's our home.
Peace! |

Thanks, Gene! And speaking of gardening, here's a Ronald Reagan quote: "Politics is supposed to be the second oldest profession. I have come to realize that it bears a very close resemblance to the first." Great to see you, btw! |

| Great Gene, Kathy I bet Reagan did mean the commonly thought one......LOL Stu. |

Hey Gene...so great to see you on here this weekend! You are missed already! Our church just finished up a series that had an emphasis on taking care of our Earth. We are pushing recycling and have added extra receptacles around our church for folks to put cans/bottles/etc to do so in. We even ordered special grocery bags for them to use at the grocery store....(you know the kind you re-use) with our church name on them...hehe. Anyway...we are trying to do our part to bring the awareness that we need to take care of what God has given us! Now I know that isn't about "Gardening" but it is about taking care of our Earth. Great Blog!
And now...not related especially...I have a Reagan quote to share: "If we ever forget that we're One Nation Under God, then we will be a nation gone under."
Have a blessed weekend Gene! Much love. |

There's a joke that's been floating around recently. A doctor, a social engineer, and a programmer were discussing the oldest occupation. The doctor said "God took the rib from Adam in the first surgery. Therefore a doctor was the first occupation." The social engineer said, "Yes but before that, God formed everything out of the chaos. He organized everything and therfore my occupation is the oldest". The programmer said, "Yes, but who do you think created the chaos?". |

Luciferl created the chaos when he was kicked out of heaven in the original perfect earth. When he fell with 1/3 of the angels. God created the second earth, He spoke light out of darkness.
When God created Adam's , it was intended for Adam to tend to the (garden) and God made Eve to ( help) care for it. It was not God's intention for the world to be in chaos. Lucifer was God's annointed cherub. God gave him a lot of wisdom. He wanted to be like God and therefore wanted to exhault himseld above God's knowleges and wisdom. He is still doing the same today and causing man to fall with his tactics when men choose to be disobedient as Adam did in the new earth.
The first job after the creation was for man to work in the (garden). Think about that one for a moment. The key to what is being say is (WORK) in the garden. God told Adam to work in the garden and take care of it. If we all take some time and just work in a garden and take care of this earth the way God intended for us to do, there would be a lot more healthier people in this world. Working as a nurse, you don't see what I see that has resulted in people not taking care of their health. Let's get back to nature so we can pass on these healthy traits to our children and our children to come four generations. Thank you Gene .Remember. It's is time to plant seeds. Amen |

| I love to garden...flowers mostly, but some veggies. And of course, the greenhouse growing mushrooms as my profession. Can you imagine living in the garden of Eden with God? Wow, all the beauty just boggles the mind. I so appreciate the flowers that God has made for us to enjoy. They are so intricate and so delicate. Great to see you! |

I guess I never learned the oldest profession. Everything I plant, either dies or continues to look the same old, tired, lifeless hulk of stem and leaf. I tried tomatoes one year...easy, right? They actually looked good until they turned red. Then the birds were attracted to them and poked them to death! I can't win, so I let the weeds cover over the garden...now I call it grass.
So, maybe for Earth Day, I can pray. I'm better at that, anyway!
By the way, welcome back, Gene, I hope the move went well. |
