| Gardening - To grow or not to grow, that is the question! |

On Friday evening I decided this year would be different. I would not spend another summer weed eating Jim's overgrown, neglected garden. In the fall I had pulled some of the large brush out hoping the rest would die out during the winter season and it worked. I got out my garden tools and began loosening the soil and taking out the weeds that had survived. I carefully prepared the spot and planted some onion sets and contemplated where the tomatoes and cucumbers would go when the time was right for them. Sounds easy enough, right?
As I came inside I started thinking how we sometimes let our lives go and they get overgrown with everything except what is needed to help us be stronger both physically and spiritually. We deprive ourselves of a complete relationship with God that empowers us over the stresses of everyday life. Our days consist of rushing to meet deadlines, cheating our family and friends out of quality time and not being able to understand why our lives aren't as fulfilling as they should be. I guess what I'm trying to say is take the time to weed out the things that are not so important and concentrate on the things that are --- then set back and watch for something beautiful to grow. |
