10 And when Pharaoh drew near, the children of Israel lifted their eyes, and behold, the Egyptians marched after them. So they were very afraid, and the children of Israel cried out to the LORD. 11 Then they said to Moses, “Because there were no graves in Egypt, have you taken us away to die in the wilderness? Why have you so dealt with us, to bring us up out of Egypt? 12 Is this not the word that we told you in Egypt, saying, ‘Let us alone that we may serve the Egyptians’? For it would have been better for us to serve the Egyptians than that we should die in the wilderness.” Exodus 14:10-12 NKJV
Faith is a noun only, but trust is both a noun and a verb,an action word. Trust is something you decide to do. Trust is placing your confidence in God and leaving it there regardless of the rough terrain. But how do we do that?
Decide to trust. Instead of letting the road conditions determine how he will feel, the trusting person decides, on the basis of God's nature, that he will place his trust in Him.
Let go and trust. In order to trust, we must haul off and do it! This usually happens the moment we make our decision.
Keep our trust anchored in God, no matter what.Instead of giving in to spiritual exhaustion, to worry, anxiety, dread and fear, we must keep our trust in God. When the anchor is secure, we will eventually ride out the storms, regardless of momentry wavering and feelings that we won't make it.
Face fear.Putting our trust to work has its greatest challenge in facing fears. Irrational fears stand in the way of God's will. Most will disappear as we walk through them with confidence in God, but those that do not should be handled with counseling.
No matter how weak or strong a person is, the object of his trust will determine whether he will make it through rough times. Addicts climbing the terrain of emotional recovery may find the going slow and treacherous, but if they choose to place their trust in God and his power, it will inevitably lead to the top. --Melinda Fish
God of power and might, teach me to place my trust in you alone for my recovery. |
