Just sharing information so that we at least know what the bible says.
I know people who are scared God is going to curse them for not paying
tithes. I not saying don't do i am just saying how it is taught is wrong.

Again, the tithing issues discussed here were excellent!

Let the truth be known.

Would they put the WORD first or their FEAR of NOT BEING BLESSED if they do not give 10% of their gross income?

It is amazing how many people diligently give 10% of their gross earnings and forsake LOVE of the one that has offended them in not FORGIVING.

The WORD said if we are to break one law we break all right?  So how could I tithe in following the old testament law and break all the other old testament laws and think God is not looking.

Lara - I have heard what you said so many times, and I believe it is born out of fear of not being blessed. (you said it).   I say did you read all of the laws including tithing?

My Dear Pastor Elam;

I applaud you for sharing all of the information on this post.  I have done the same on other forums.  I have tried to  share scriptures with others who claim to be followers of Jesus Christ, and received rebuke after rebuke, all borne out of fear.  All I heard was (do you want me to loose my blessings?)  No one has invited me sit down with the bible to research the truth.  THEY JUST DO NOT WANT TO READ FOR THEMSELVES.  There is a LOT of FEAR in the minds of so called Christians.  At first, I was really baffled at the fact that no one wanted to go through the scriptures with me.  I thought it was my approach, but then the Holy Spirit brought to my remembrance that people will have itching ears and they will be led astray and follow in their pernicious ways.  I have found that the following is true:

catholics defend their teaching on Mary
seventh day Adventist defend their teaching on the sabbath
Jehovah witnesses defend their teaching on the 144,0000  who will get into heaven.
Pentecostals defend their teaching on the tithe

Brainwashing techniques have been promulgated in the churches for years.  It is truly sad that sooo many follow in the pernicious ways of their leaders.  Did not Jesus warn that the kingdom of heaven lies within that we must not them?  Perhaps those who followed Jim Jones did not read the scriptures for themselves and they all died in their sins.

Only those who are filled with the Holy Spirit will know the truth and that truth will set them free.

I continue to remind myself I am The Lord's
witness not his attorney. It helps me stay
focused on the message and not the reaction
to the message.
