| The Spiritual Red Meat Diet |
|
| |
I have been an observer of and participator in the sheep flock for many decades now. Much of the time I see sheep that are not being fed the most nutritious spiritual diet.
Some preachers feed junk food hype and spiritual swill. Some feed only one kind of food, and not variety. Others feed a sugar pill or the latest fad diet. Some feed mouldy food that is past its use-by date.
What did Jesus say? He told Peter to "feed my sheep" and then he told the rest of the disciples what to feed. He said to teach what he had commanded them.
What kind of food is teaching what Jesus commanded?
It is a red meat diet, the red letters if you care. Of course, a balanced diet requires other food as well, the epistles, the prophets, etc. However, the basic staple of our diet ought to be the "red" meat that Jesus taught. 21:16 A second time he said to him, "Simon, son of John, do you love me?" He said to him, "Yes, Lord; you know that I love you." He said to him, "Tend my sheep." 21:17 He said to him the third time, "Simon, son of John, do you love me?" Peter was grieved because he said to him the third time, "Do you love me?" And he said to him, "Lord, you know everything; you know that I love you." Jesus said to him, " Feed my sheep.
28:19 Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 28:20 teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, to the close of the age." |

| Grant, I have become a regular reader of yours, I try to never miss a post. Why? You strike me as balanced, fair, yet a stickler for truth. I really feel that I can trust you. Thanks so much for your continued posts! |

Bring on the Prime Rib! Jesus' teachings are hard, do you reckon that's why many pastor's teachers etc..avoid it? |
|
|
| Grant, I truly wish more Pastors would preach/teach Jesus' teachings. I feel too many have watered down the word. I'm passed the Milk stage already....give me the meat! |

Mike, thank you for the encouragement. A couple of times I have worn a moustache. One time a lady told me that she never trusted a man with a moustache. I simply replied that my Bible says to trust no man. LOL.
Todd and Valarie, thank you for your desire for real meat. I hope you don't choke on it like I do at times. Jesus' words are tough to live aren't they! |

| Without the meat...we stay babes in Christ..."feedin" on milk..."needin" a pacifier. So unless preachers want to be spiritual baby-sitters to a bunch of immature christians they best start "diggin" deep in the word "gettin" the meat "outta" the word and start "preachin" it.
Great blog! |
