I wonder how much time we spend considering this special day.  This was the day that Jesus was triumphantly welcomed into Jerusalem by His people...the same people who were screaming for Barabus a few days later.  How things have not changed over the years.  Time has for sure gone by and styles have come and go...tech is constantly changing the way we do stuff...but people, we haven't changed.  We still bless God with one side of our face and crush eachother with the other (I stand guilty as charged for I have done it myself).  It is obvious that many who define themselves as Christians truly worship the God they want, but many refuse to look upon the God who IS.  My life is full of failure...even success has come at the cost of failure...but the one thing I have learned is not to validate my ability to be found in the cross, but instead, to consider the cross and all it cost...see myself as needing and lacking...and cling to the hope and life found in Jesus.

I would have been in that crowd...so would have you.  One of my songs contains the lyrics:

I am not so innocent myself.  I have hurt others myself.

In one hand I hald the hammer and in the other the nails

I stood in the crowd and cried "Barabas" yet still Your grace prevailed...

I consider myself blessed to be able to be trusted with the well-being of God's sheep...He loves us so much.  I am sure the whole time He was received that day, He was in His heart grieved b/c of what He knew those same people would be doing just days later.  That the people there were mostly celebrating what He could do for them...not who He was.  Palm Sunday is a time that I sit back and see all that God has done in my life...and consider the hard truth that through it all...all of the blessings...I have at times (many times) made comprimises with the flesh...just being honest...and that thought humbles me.  God loves us so much that our minds cannot even begin to comprehend it.  I need Him.  Every moment of my life regardless of the triumph I am walking in I remember that it is possible to find myself so quickly turned around that I don't know which way is up.  I view the cross as what it is.  The symbol of the fact that I could not pay the price nor make the cut. 

I hope that you all have a "happy Easter" but I hope that you all, more importantly, approach this time with humility and brokeness...

He paid a debt He did not owe

Christ Jesus paid the debt that I could never pay.

Palm Sunday reminds me that we betrayed our Lord...and He still faced and endured the cross for the hope of nothing more than us.  That is amazing
