| Modern Man's Formula For Futility |
|
| |
Here is a modern formula for futility. It is pushed on us nowadays. Our kids are brainwashed with it in public schools -- "nothing plus time equals everything." But doesn't that formula leave life empty?
Something in human beings longs to be inspired — to believe in high ideals, to experience meaning and purpose in life. World literature is full of stories of the human quest for noble causes; the struggle to overcome evil and establish mercy, love, and justice; and the willingness to sacrifice and endure pain for the good of others. The inner sense that there is more to human life than a mere body that dies has filled people with hope and caused people to seek better lives for themselves and others, both here and hereafter.
But if we are nothing but a cosmic accident — an unplanned blob of blood, brains, and bones — does anything about our lives really matter? Hasn’t the modern view of human origin pulled the plug from our higher purpose and passion for life?
It sure seems like today people are disposable. Gunmen shoot them down. Doctors pull them out of their mothers womb in pieces. The elderly are warehoused. Those who can’t or won’t “make it” are mainly shoved aside, ignored or taken advantage of.
Personally, I like the ancient formula much better. “And God created man in His own image.” |

| I have heard it said that the reason man wants to cling to the theory of evolution is so that he can use it as an excuse to live like an animal. I have also heard that all the chemicals in our body added together is only worth a dollar or two. God values us so much that He became flesh dwelt among us and suffered at our hands and was crucified for our redemption. I agree with you, I like God's perspective better too. |

| The formula is the worlds version of a remedy that can be taken to releive the ills of guilt. There seems less guilt for some to rather than face the reality that the God that loved and created them also will hold them accountable. The easy way around that would seem to do away with God altogether, which is sad, because those folks are really out of touch with reality. God gave us a way around guilt and sin. Repent, stop whatever it is that you are doing that is making you feel guilty and seperating you from God. Don't do it any more. Believe that Jesus came bled and died to forgive you of those things that you have done to feel guilty about from your past. Now how hard was that? Just think about how much wasted time and effort it took for Darwin trip over his brain. |

| Very well put, CCC Stevens. |

| wow, what an eye opener Steve! so true so true! We need to honor those who the world pushes aside as unworthy, for they too were created in the image of God and are worthy of our love. The "ancient formula" is much, much better than the "new and improved man made formula" |

3:38 Which was [the son] of Enos, which was [the son] of Seth, which was [the son] of Adam, which was [the son] of God. Wow ! Adam was the son of God ! |
