| Lawn Mowers and Answered Prayer |
|

Sometimes we have to look for answered prayer. Yesterday I took a nice walk around a nearby lake with the dog and was enjoying the peace and a little quiet time with God. One of the things I was surrendering to God, for at least the millionth time, was my singleness. I know He has told me He has someone waiting for me (I'll explain that maybe in a future blog.. we'll see). But I was surrendering the now. And I was kind of asking for sign or just His manifest presence to let me know He would take care of me in the meantime.
Anyway, I finished the walk. I came home to find that one of my neighbors has now mowed which makes my yard look even worse, but as usual, I can't get my mower to start. I am not a particularly handy person so we should probably not discuss the wisdom of my decision to become a homeowner a few years back. But I dutifully pulled out the instruction manual and wrote down part numbers for spark plugs, etc. Took a trip to Home Depot today, bought parts; still with the intention, though, of letting them sit until I could get a guy friend to come over and do it.
But then God moves in. And I get bold, or maybe cocky. So while I'm waiting for my friend I start playing with the spark plug trying to pull it out. I took calculus, surely I can handle this. Fifteen minutes later the spark plug is changed, air filter is changed, it has fresh oil and gas. I try a couple pulls and start to hear some life. On the 6th pull I have an engine that is running.
I IM'd a friend later and bragged (it was shameless and I have to be honest because he may read this). But later on this evening it occurred to me, that it was an answered prayer. Guys you may not understand the frustration and helplessness a woman feels when she can't fix things. But getting that lawn mower going for me, was God's sign to me, that He will take care of me. This time He worked through me. Next time, I may have to step back and wait for a friend to help me. But I know that always, God will be there for me. |

Oh Maureen, What a wonderful testimony! He will use any method sometimes to capture our hearts and attention. We just have to recognize. God IS always there for you. So encouraging! Thanks!
By the way, Praise His Name you got the engine running. That's more than most of us could do! Be blessed! |

| This is so true! I am single and even in my move it has been beyond difficult trying to find help that doesn't want 'something...a date..whatever' in return. I questioned God, where are the Christian men that are suppose to help. God has been faithful though and it is getting done. This blog is awesome! |

Maureen wooooooooooohooooooooooooooooooo funny u should mention the lawn mower. My husband is disabled. He can mow the lawn as we have such a small lawn now. But he still has a law suit pending. It is winding down and they stated they have 2 vidoes of him. See he can do things, but he suffers so later. They do not see that part. My point is I told him I can do it, he said no its ok. hmmmmmm I know with God>>ALL THINGS are possible and when we let Him in and handle our prayers mountains move!! Us women CAN DO what men can do, we just have to DO IT!!! hope that made sence LOL
God Bless you and way to go Girl!!!! Keep going!!!! keep trusting!!! |
