Amen Michael!

I wholeheartedly agree.

The spirit was speaking to me as I read this. He pointed me to this verse:

If ye love me, keep my commandments.

There are several verses in John and 1 John that echo this very statement. For a long time I believed that if we keep the commandments, then we know we are in His love. But now I believe more that when we love Him, we will keep the commandments.

In other words, keeping his commandments is the by product of loving Him.

And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments.

Same with this verse. I see this as when we know Him, we will keep His commandments. Not that if we keep His commandments, then we know Him.

Keeping the commandments is the fruit of our salvation, not the root.

Anyway, that's just what the Lord spoke to me as I read this.

Great Word!

13:34
"A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another, even as I have loved you, that you also love one another.
13:35
"By this all men will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another."

The Apostle Paul said of himself, "I am chief sinner."

I say of myself, "I am the biggest sinner I know."  And not comparing myself with Apostle Paul.  I just know that truth and its implications and its requirments for my behavior toward His children.

2Co 5:19
namely, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and He has committed to us the word of reconciliation.

Thats heavy.   Christ literally DID NOT hold any infraction or sin against any one He came in contact with in any way.  Even me.  But He gregariously loves me with a smile on his face and open arms.   Thats heavy.  He didn't judge the Pharisee.

Christ Jesus said, "By this all men will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another."

He left us an example.
