| Communion...a Family Reunion? |
|
| |
Do you like family reunions? God the Father does. He is extremely old fashioned that way. Today, in our fast paced and extremely hurried world, it seems like getting to the same table, for the same meal at the same time for dinner and fellowship with anyone, much less our families would take an " act of God ".
What is the secret to having a successful family reunion today? Simple, says the Bottom Line, a weekly publication that attempts to communicate the " bottom line " on a variety of life's issues. The key is to assign one person in the family to serve as a coordinator to plan, organize, schedule and oversee the entire project. This person would need to have the drive, determination, skills and abilities to pull it off. This person would have to be able to sacrifice much to get it all together and then make it work. For the church...it did take an act of God.
God desires to have rich intimate fellowship with His children. His children are scattered to the four winds, spiritually, emotionally and physically. God loves us so much he assigned a facilitator who could bring us all together under one house, one table, one meal, one faith and fellowship with not just each other, but primarily with Him. This person is none other than our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Through His life, death and resurrection, He was able to bring all those who would reconcile themselves to their Creator together as one to take a meal with our Father in heaven. A moment once every week to fellowship with Him by sharing a meal together and remember the price that was paid for each and every person present and saved. This is commonly known as communion.

Together at one table. Mystically, we pull it off, and it's a deep and very moving experience. But Gil, what are we to think when we see people who aren't in the family walk up to the table? (I know, it doesn't really matter that much to me, though there is something that gnaws at me.....)
Dude, I still hold out hope of reading a Gil/Temaa ONE PAGE blog! lol (Actually, I did read one, a beautiful creed on the Doctrine of the Trinity by Athanasius!) God bless you, Gil. Glad to see you are still blessing the saints (of MyChurch).

Thanks for your comments and encouragement Bro! I am working on it, and I am designing a little series in mind for my one page blog, a-la-mike n laura style, ; ) coming soon.
You know, I see some people I believe to be saved hardly ever take communion, and then those who are questionable to me take it every time. I guess we cannot really know whether those coming are a close relative or a distant 2nd cousin, twice removed. I guess it's up to the Master of the house to decide whether or not they have a legitmate right to partake.
They may be able to fool us, even themselves perhaps, but you sure can't fool Him. Judas tried.
Be blessed Bro! |
