9:35 And Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sickness and every disease among the people. 9:36 But when he saw the multitudes, he was moved with compassion on them, because they fainted, and were scattered abroad, as sheep having no shepherd. 9:37 Then saith he unto his disciples, The harvest truly [is] plenteous, but the labourers [are] few; 9:38 Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth labourers into his harvest. 10% of the people do 90% of the work. How often have you heard that? It seems that Jesus told us this was going to happen during not only His personal minintry but in the centuries to follow. Today we are a 'disposable' society it seems. When a couple has a fight they break up, if your car gives you trouble that's in any way serious we sell it (if we can). We seem to always look for the quick fix that causes the least amount of personal discomfort or stress, it's human nature. We move from the small church where we 'keep getting asked to do things' into the big churches where we can attend for a year and not really know anyone well. The Lord of Hosts never said that following Him would be easy or without sacrifice, in fact He said the exact opposite! 15:20 Remember the word that I said unto you, A servant is not greater than his lord. If they persecuted me, they will also persecute you; if they kept my word, they will keep yours also. The question is, are you willing to be uncomfortable for righteousness sake? Are you willing to be avoided by the people around you because you choose to go into the gutter to help a drunk to their feet? Are you prepared to be mocked and called a 'Jesus freak' because you choose not to follow the pack? Are you prepared to work, even when you are wearied by it, because you know it's where Jesus has asked you to be? I pray Jesus richest blessing on those that read this and make, or continue to make, the choice to work in the field and for His mercy on those that choose to watch. Yours in Christ, Guy |
