My dear comrades, As I write this (and my previous two entries), I have been attending the Territiorial Youth Workers Convention, or TYWC for short, in Nashville, Tennessee. In the past several years, I have enjoyed participating in various youth related events, such as camps, Youth Councils, and TYI. These have all been wonderful times of ministry and devotion, and yes, even renewal. For nearly 6 years, I have been serving as a program staff member at our division's Girl Guard & Adventure Corps Camp. These two camps run side by side, but seperately. Most of those years I have taken the older boys, which have done the wilderness survival/camping badge work. Last year, I had the immense priviledge of going to TYI. This was my "first time", eventhough I have been in the Army since I was 14. This event was a powerful reminder that our kids are spiritually keene and prayerfully minded, and hunger for Scripture. Also, this year marked by fifth year as a part of Youth Councils "staff". Arriving early to set up and staying late to break down, most officers do not see the effort put into providing a quality experience for our youth. I am finishing my tenth (10th!) year in the Kentucky-Tennessee Division. So many of the young people in my first two appointments are still walking with the Lord and attending the corps, that I feel blessed to have served them for a time. 6:6 And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be upon thy heart; 6:7 and thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thy house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up. 6:8 And thou shalt bind them for a sign upon thy hand, and they shall be for frontlets between thine eyes. 6:9 And thou shalt write them upon the door-posts of thy house, and upon thy gates. God bless, Be well, and Keep in touch! |
